all these happened in the last 6-7 years. There has been more 8 seeds beating 1s since the 1st round went to a 7 game series than they were when a series has been 5.

Sixers as you mentioned didn't have to face CHI's best player

And the Warriors swept DAL that season in the regular season in 2006-2007

They need to get rid of the whole fukkin 1st round. Only teams who can win the championship should be in the playoffs, aka 1st 4 from each conference. All the 1st round does is make more money for the NBA.

Nba has the most amount of teams out of any sport[and hockey] that make the playoffs and the least amount that can actually win it,most of these teams here have no shot to do anyhting at all

Thyers no reason for that many teams to make the playoffs in a league and no reason for 7 and 8 seeds to be in the playoffs, 7 and 8 seeds are never winnign a title unless the other 6 seeds in their confernce die in a fatal plane crash

Add in Sten drags these series out over 2 weeks and kills any flow and momentum so the nba palyoffs are like a 5 hour movie where you already know the ending

Reason the NBA will never get any bigger than it is now. Unless they drastically change something, the super teams and alsorans formula is awful and the fact the playoffs take forever make it even worse

It'll never happen, they went with 7 games because it insures both teams get at minimum 2 home games. Home games are around $1-2 million per team.

Unfortunately, this is what it all comes down to. Money.

Of course things made more sense when the 1st round was shorter and mainly a tune-up to the 7 game series that started in the 2nd round, but playoff games make the most money. Once they decided to start to take the money and tasted the money, they'll never be giving it back.


But they really do need to do a better job of making the 1st round go faster.

With that logic, they should make 9 and 11 game series.

The 7 game 1st round sucks. Classic moments like Mutumbo clutching the ball as an 8 seed don't exist because the NBA deliberately makes it so the super teams advance

they cant make it 9 or 11 because the players would be fatigued

i dont like 7 in the first i prefer 5

I'll never understand people's infatuation with upsets.

I want the best team to win the championship, and a playoff structure that facilitates this. NBA does the best job out of any of the sports I watch (NFL/NCAAB/NCAAF/NBA), only problem is the scheduling is terrible.

IMO it makes upsets even more special when they happen cause it's not just some one off game. It's the higher seed getting their ass kicked with no room for excuses. Like Mavs-GS a few years back.
