Probably gonna watch this again, I saw someone say it’s an existential horror instead of a straight up horror and it makes sense.

I Had an issue with the mom-son dynamic but after thinking about it…I get it.

You have the father-son journey then you have the mother-son journey which leads to the son having his own path.

It’s very symbolic & that’s how you create new characters instead of relying on Cillian Murphy.

Does Murphy have a big role?

im sorry but the dad not showing up after an hour or so is bullshyt. Yea he cheated but he ain’t no deadbeat. Thoroughly believe he would’ve crashed out to find spike but I think that’s where the sequel comes in. I’m glad they didn’t make the mom some kinda amnesia super soldier even tho she gave that bloater that work, apparently:dwillhuh:. the dying parent part hit home no lie :yeshrug: :mjcry: no need for the tone shift at the end. The part of Erik and kelson was enough for the slapstick humor

This film was all over the place. Felt like a bunch of interesting ideas strung together. The world building here is weak and raises more questions than it answers. I really enjoyed the first hour, great tension and great camera work. But then it got weird and I just didn’t buy many of the decisions that the characters made, which took me out of the movie. I also did not like the stylistic direction Boyle took with the kills and inter mixing of old images and film within new scenes. Again those things took me out of the movie because they felt too heavy handed. And the last two minutes were ridiculous, but it did make me laugh so I guess that’s something. Really disappointed though overall. 5/10

Despite the pacing, I give this movie a huge thumbs up. I highly recommend it. I definitely had some issues with it but overall Danny Boyle and Alex Garland delivered.

I did not like the ending at all, but I still can't wait to see part 2 of this new trilogy. Also, the cinematography and the overhead top down film shots were top notch as well. A very well shot movie. Most of it was shot on an iPhone.
