I've lived in a dangerous 3rd world country (Brazil) and nah, we ain't there yet. Unless you have something valuable and they know to target you. Large, but short lived, break downs in law and order like riots don't lead to much beyond public looting and attacks. As bad as inequality in America is, it isn't even close to places like Brazil, South Africa, or Colombia.
It's actually the long-term absence of security and accountability ot the law that emboldens people to do mass home invasions. Even those that happen here typically occur in an area the attackers live near (our own usually
). In Brazil, gangs of dudes would travel to affluent parts of town to rob whole apartment buildings or buses (arrastão). Anyone with a house had broken glass or razor wire on a wall around their home. You couldn't wear your cell phone on your hip or it would get lifted. Trust me, this is bad but it ain't shyt compared to other places.

Diblasio is a fukking MoronCut off the choke, train strations, busses. Have heavy cop presence around modes of public transportation first and foremost.
Then keep a low police presence for protests and send in the army to flank the protesters and catch the looters who are following in tow.
That would be the intelligent thing for NYPD to do.
