ITT: A powerful conservatives' dream come true. A pissing match over which group has it worse, disenfranchising people over shyt that all has the same general solution.

It becomes a pissing match because other demographics want to latch onto the black experience when it suites them, while simultaneously trying to prove their superiority over blacks. Gays and Latinos are notorious for this. Latinos will be quick to shyt on blacks, deny us service, call us "mayate" and "negrito" like it's nothing, and yet, want blacks to cosign them when it's time to march in the streets for something. I've seen gays drop the n-bomb and deny blacks service, but then shiver when someone says "faq". I've argued on the site about this before: If you are taking away peope's civil liberties, treating them like shyt, and having a condescending attitude towards them, don't turn around and start crying when a group in more power (aka whites) start doing it to you, and don't look at blacks with the "save me" face . We get tired of being used and thrown away for certain agendas . Everybody does deserve civil rights, but the struggles have not been the same. And people are quick to disregard ANYTHING positive or nationally benificial that black folks have done . If them black leaders hadn't gotten together, then Mexicans, gays, women etc. would not have had as much progress in their own plights. This should be acknowledged for once instead of people throwing up "Chicano Power" pics and feminist photos. People always want to gloss over the black experience like its irrelevant.

Civil rights should be for everybody, that doesn't take away anything from slavery or the black experience.

Think about it this way; what are civil rights? Civil rights is the ability to vote without obstruction, the ability to participate in all aspects of the economy without obstruction(white only), the access to equal protection under the law, and the right not to be discriminated on the basis of colour. As a black man, I want these things for all peoples, because I know especially black people have been denied these basic rights for the last 3-4 hundred years across the world, I wouldn't want another group to feel that.

On the FLIP-SIDE, black people deserve EXTRA PROVISIONS, not privileges but PROVISIONS, actual monetary compensation in the form of either subsidy, preferential treatment, and or actual restitution, for the genocide, enslavement and systematic abuse of their ancestors. Blacks were slaves in the United States from its inception, till emancipation, but for at least 180 years before the United States existed. White segregationists ruined the black recovery during the Reconstruction, and just when black people were gaining political power, they got scared and implemented Jim Crow, a system that not only hurt blacks psychologically, but more importantly ECONOMICALLY.

Blacks just got out of Jim Crow in 1964. That was only 48 years ago. 48 years of equal protection in the Americas, which is less than 1/10th of the time that they've been here. Black people need to get real and fight for what they're owed. Stop being ashamed to say the word REPERATIONS. That's what they deserve, and I think that might be what Marcuz was saying in different words.

after the knowledge from affirmative action was successfully gathered.
it was stripped away to further perpetrate legal segregation, poverty, racism, and economic racism.

thus showing the civil rights movement was nothing more than a heavily campaigned pr placebo of americana.

the civil rights movement was not for any other group.
except the social liberation and creation of economic slavery for white women, period.

if you think civil rights were made for you and you are not a white woman.
