If NBA fans were willing to respect making the playoffs or conference championships the way NFL fans respect making the playoffs or winning the AFC/NFC championships and MLB fans respect pennants, none of this shyt would have ever gone down.
But we don't. And that's fine - that's a choice made by the majority of the fans - I can't knock that. It is what it is.

But choices have consequences. Players don't want to be scoffed at and disrespected by fans for the rest of their lives (remember, they usually retire at what, 35? they've still got 50+ years of life to live) because no matter how hard they tried and how much they produced, they never won a championship.
