shyts stupid and is being pushed by the losing side of the console war.

They have the exact same metacritic score and open critic rebirth is a point higher.

It’s going to sell a fukkload on switch 2 as well

Rebirth was arguably the best game to drop last year. A lot of these dudes really don’t play games, just narratives :mjlol:

Nobody is “shytting” on any game

People have been asking square to make a game like this for years.

Square(and other people) specifically said that a game like claire obscure couldn’t work artistically and/or commercially.

Claire obscure proves square (and those people) wrong in their assessment, so maybe square should try it.

That’s it. You guys are attacking and defending against strawmen cause you have this need to pick sides and defend to the end.

Nobody is “shytting” on rebirth. You can say rebirth is a good game but still admit the FF franchise has declined and needs a boost. Square said it themselves.:manny:

Remember when Capcom was making mostly action Resident Evil games saying nobody wanted survival horror. Turns out people wanted survival horror. Same deal here. People want turned based role playing games. Square Enix just doesn't have it in them to put an interesting spin on a AAA turned based game anymore. Given their struggles with the Final Fantasy series in general that has turned the series from one of the top in all of gaming and a "system seller" into something people can take or leave it's not surprising.

When publicly traded companies put out a successful product that meets or exceeds expectation when they report quarterly and annual numbers they boast about such achievements. Their last two mainline Final Fantasy games they've said almost nothing about since their initial release and one of them is approaching a 2 year anniversary in June. To put out a couple of your likely most expensive projects ever have them release and say next to nothing about their performance after release is very telling.

And I'm not talking about an executive saying "we sold a certain number" in an interview I'm talking about shareholder conference calls these are our numbers saying something tangible the company itself can be held accountable to. Anybody can say anything in a PR interview but if you in an official company capacity put out BS in a conference call or official company release governing bodies will be on that ass.

Final Fantasy VII shouldn't have been 3 games long. They made a gamble and it blew up in their face. Rebirth is longer than the entirety of the original game just on it's own. They put off remaking Final Fantasy VII for years when in better times of the series fans begged for it. They even went up on stage and trolled fans with a port of the original game.

They drove this series into the ground and then in a break glass in case of emergency moment decided to remake Final Fantasy VII but milk it for all it's worth. Rebirth's suffering for their incompetence in managing the series. The series is just not what it once was to the point they can put out a classic game (if a bit long) and still be met with a level of indifference overall. Rebirth should be well past 10-15 million copies sold and if it was you better believe we'd have heard about it already.

Had they dropped a FF7 remake in the style of the RE:remake games, shyt woulda sold crazy AND been much cheaper to make.

But they decided to take 10 years and 3 generations of hardware to tell 1 story and dudes wanna defend this shyt and pretend they don’t know why people lost interest :beli:

I particularly remember this forum shytting on 15 which i thought was good.

Square didn’t become this darling some of you felt the need to defend until these games became “exclusives” ammo for the console wars now @Gizmo_Duck is square enix biggest fan and supporter :mjlol:

Resident Evil 5 & 6 both did 9.5m just on PS360.

Village did 10.5m but released on fukking everything, PS4 and 5, Xbox One and Series, Switch, PC.

Not exactly the knockout punch you thought it was even if 7 did 14m, cheap steam sales, cdkeys, humble bundles etc inflate numbers.....

Context matters, nikkas was fine with 5 mostly but everyone bought 6 and told capcom it was ass and they hated the direction of the series. It did well sales wise but was a critical failure. If they kept in that direction the following game wouldve flopped

Its the same of a super hyped movie, itll do well in the box office but then word of mouth spreads and sinks the sequel
