ehhh I know man this has been discussed at length but where do we draw the line? We said 90% initially to let only the elite of the elite get accepted then we accounted for trolls and brought it down to 80% lol

I mean I told people to try as far as possible to eliminate personal bias (as you're doing) but you know that ain't happening when Pac gets 3 classics and G Rap gets 0 for example

People clearly hate the Mid-West here lmao or aren't well versed in the music, even though 2 of the most well known artists (Ye and Em) are from that area

PACs three classics ain't got naan to do with bias. It's bias if he AINT getting 3. I think u just got a wake up call about who Pac was and the effect he had

:ohhh:

75% was a good number...that's still an overwhelming consensus

Wow. DJ Quik got 3 classics but Common has none?! :heh:

welcome to The Coli.

as someone suggested, there's gotta be a minimum number of votes to make this kinda shyt stick. No point running polls when 40 Quik fans can run in and vote classic on everything.

as i said, common got like 4 to me

one day it'll all make sense
resurrection
like water for chocolate
be

and that's in no order

but don't front on quik

The Common classics imo are Resurrection, Like Water For Chocolate and Be. And the only DJ Quik album really considered a classic is his debut.

What the fukk does Common have to do with anything? I like Common and whatever yall agree with in his poll is cool but don't try to shyt on Quik and his work or dispute his classics to big up Common in here. shyt Quik deserves an honorary nod for for his mixing alone and work on AEOM. Production is a whole nutha story and category.

it's not just Common. The argument would still work if it was Nas or any other rapper.

It makes no sense that Nas has 1 classic and Quik has 3. First of all, I think it's rare for any hip hop artist to have 2 classics, let alone 3. And they'd have to be God tier for that. Which Quik isn't. Not shytting on the man, but he's not a God tier level rapper or producer (whether in quality output or notoriety). If he were, it'd be obvious.

At first I was like :patrice:

But I can see it.

Safe+Sound is essentially Quik's "War" album. It's aggressive while still having Quik's laid back and organic sounding sensibilities.

Rhythm-a-lism is more like a "Peace" album. It's pretty much Quik's "I grew up this beef/street shyt is stupid" album It has a totally different vibe.

I know a few people who say Rhythm-a-lism is Quik's attempt at a "sell out" radio friendly album, but really he's just making music without the anchor of street shyt holding him down.

Fans gone fan.

Nas got two. Lost Tapes don't count.

I'll admit, one of my Quik votes is a mistake.
