Fits the theme of the album and a great song. Describe the definition of filler

How did it "fit the theme of the album"?

There was nothing outstanding about that song. Nothing profound was said...
It's cool background music, the kind @mobbinfms can play while raking the leaves in the front yard.

It would've been good on a soundtrack.

Man, woman, and child
u must be a youngin because the source magazine was the bible of hip hop (and im ONLY talking before the benzino takeover which happen in da early '00s)

---------------
but anywayz
LAD dosnt have fillers - my definition of a filler is/are songs that nobody like & are skip

the few headz that claim this for LAD alwayz say the 2 to 3 songs
•another
•nasty boy
•player hater

another w/lil kim & nasty boy are songs for the ladies & i swear i NEVER EVER heard a girl say they didnt like those joints

player hater is more like a long interlude its comedy gives disc 2 a change of pace

------------
WTF
dont know what to say - its simple besides triumph all the songs on the double CD basically sound the same

I feel the same way about LAD and AEOM. I don't think either album is better than the other and both have lots of filler. Their deaths certainly influenced how we look at those albums

I mean you can jab at the downfalls of this community for whatever, but ppl here obviously possess more knowledge than an average fan, I mean it depends on what constitutes an average fan I guess idk...

I'm not "jabbin'" at anyone, i'm just keeping it 100...

I presume anyone that listens to hip-hop is an "average" fan off rip, because realistically I don't think anyone
is as much of an expert on everything under the umbrella - myself included. If you have two different fans,
one of them is gonna something the other doesn't know, and vice versa.

So I don't think that everyone here is "more knowledgeable" than the average person...especially considering
some of the stuff I've read here...

The whole album was about Biggie's transition from the broke and fukked up state (along with violence) he was in on Ready to Die. I Love the Dough was on the album with Mo Money Mo Problems, Pray for my Downfall, Sky's The Limit etc. It's a song with him and Jay Z going back and fourth like on Reasonable Doubt. How is that filler?

The fact you nikkas don't even mention Player Hater and the 50 second Interlude as filler says a lot

Theres plenty of classic albums that have tracks on them that the average hip hop fan wouldn't know. Whut Thee Album was deemed a classic but I highly doubt people who aren't huge Redman fans would be able to quote Jam 4 U. When BOBS came out I remember chicks loving that album and so did nikkas I knew who were bumping Cash Money heavy at the time. It was that one moment where the division between underground and commercial was erased. Really looking back the underground has never been the same as we knew it after that album

But dig - you may be right about people not knowing "Jam 4 U" like that...but I bet you people who aren't huge Redman fans
WOULD BE able to quote "How To Roll A Blunt" and "A Day of Sooperman Lover". That's why I voted that one as a classic.

And like I said about Black On Both Sides, I have no reason to believe what you said here is wrong. But, what was the chit
on there that everybody knew that wasn't on the radio or TV?

I'm 23, take that as you will

anyway bro I'm saying The Source is not the be all and end all of ratings, though it is extremely credible, remember it still gave albums like Liquid Swords 4 mics...

I think what you perceive my ignorance to be on LAD is how I feel about you on WTF

convince me LAD is a classic and ticks all the boxes, and I may change my vote

but the fact that it has multiple singles means something as well surely, that it was an album for real heads and for the mainstream to some degree, as someone else alluded to earlier

I personally didn't mention those two because I wasn't the one listing everything that was filler on that album,
that was somebody else...but while we're at it? Those two are filler. So is "Nasty Boy" and "Another".
That doesn't mean all of those songs are bad, but they weren't necessary on this album.

Anyway:

- every rappers' album is about their "transistion from the broke and fukked up state" they used to be in.
- that's for bringing up "Brooklyn's Finest". "I Love The Dough" is like a not-as-good version of that.

that's your barometer for knowing something?

some random fukking fact?

without knowing, can you list the batters in order of releasing their verses on the song Deadly Melody?

do you know why Ghost was saying 'poisonous' repeatedly in the beginning of Guillotine (Swordz)?

d'you know why RZA and GZA didn't rap on Da Mystery of Chessboxin'?

Bruh, this was in the era that most albums got 2 or 3 singles. That's not noteworthy.

To contrast, I love UGK. They are arguably my favorite group. And even though I LOVE Dirty Money,
I didn't vote it as a classic when we did their thread. The deluxe version has 6 singles on it...but the original
issue only has 3.

The average rap fan might know or be familiar with those singles, but they may not know or have even cared to hear
the rest of the album. So I couldn't in good conscience call that a classic.
