No player is called a future MVP and Champion. Even Bron and Jordan had to fight through many obstacles to get to that realm and level. But we did see a future all star in SGA and that was more than enough to make him untouchable in any trade. All Kawhi had to do was join up with the team and then realize that SGA is the perfect running mate. Worst comes to worst you make the trade a few months later after the season starts at the trade deadline for a star if things for some reason don't look right. Could've gotten PG or another star at half the price and kept SGA if they waited. Ballmer was too thirsty and desperate.
