amazing 1st week sales for them and they didn't rely on trickery like Travis does with his numbers. :ohhh:

finally caught up with the thread :whew:

dont wanna jump the gun but after listening to nothing else for the past week im confident calling this a modern day classic. production, bars, features, sequencing all top tier

how in the fukk did def jam drop the ball so badly with this? i can’t think of a worse fumble in recent memory…then they drop a surprise beiber album to try and take some of the shine away? nasty work :hhh:

That definitely was the general consensus but there was always a group of Clipse heads that gave the edge to Malice because of his verses having elements that you just felt more, it just sounded realer and hit you in the gut more, was more balanced and introspective.

Think of it like this, Mob Figaz, AP.9 was the better rapper from a technical standpoint right? On paper the lyrics were better from a structural standpoint, inside rhyme schemes, multi syllabics what have you but, Jacka rhymes you felt in your soul, Jacka hit you with that raw self reflective shyt, that I'm playing with my nose and dabbling in hop behind the homies backs cause my actions have left nightmares in my conscious.

And I use the comparison of Jacka to Malice because the common denominator which I think is why those who say Malice over Push or J.A. over AP.9 is the God/religion connection, they both had that reflective, repentant, my sins are weighing heavy on my soul aspect to their drug dealer raps.

For me this is what made me say Malice is on another level after the first spin of Lord Willin

Malice verse on "Im Not You"

It shames me to no end
to feed poison to those
who could very well be my kin
but where theres demand
someone will supply
so I feed them their needs
at the same time cry
yes it pains me to see them need this
all of them lost souls
and I'm their Jesus
deepest regret
and sympathy to the streets
I seen them pay for their fix
when their kids couldn't eat
and with this in mind
I still didn't quit
and that's how I know that I ain't shyt
my heart bleeds
but that's aside from the fact
I live for my kids, and theirs
and them youngins after that
:whew:

It's why I rate Styles over Jada too, but by no means do i not understand why ppl would view Pusha as the better rapper and i have no intention of slighting Push either, I never didn't enjoy a project from him and i view him as a top tier lyricist but, for me personally I put Malice in the same category as rappers like Jacka or Styles or Pac or Kendrick, the penned scrolls hit the soul.

I remember listening to Lord Willin the first time and that verse had me like :wtf:
