So the album version of So Be It is same lyrics but uses the Scarface sample Mobb used on G.O.D. Pt. III? Or new verses too? Sounds crazy from the snip.

This is not a Mobb Deep/Scarface sample as far as I can tell, just has a similar vibe.

Its okay, not as good as the original. Why have they switched it? Sample clearance?

Gotta be. Those Arabic samples are hard to clear. It's like sampling an old American gospel sample: the original artist is either gonna reject you for non-religious lyrics or tax the fukk out of you.

How can they commercially release the video on Youtube and put the song on at least some of the streaming services without clearing the sample though?

From what I understand it was never officially added to streaming services by the label. Some random person added it on Spotify but it may have been taken down. I'd imagine the Youtube vid isn't monetized so it's not an issue unless they get sued.

Might be a stylistic choice to just be different, it wasn't released as a single i think the way Ace Trumpets was...

Once we hear part two well be able to tell more if its different verses but same hook for example...

Maybe theyre trying to be fly like with the acronyms for some of the song titles and all that

My most anticipated album in a while mostly because of the roll out...

Throw it out there now, deal with the rest later.

People used to do that back in the day, with music videos, all the time. Sometimes, you get lucky and not have to clear sh*t. Other times, you can negotiate once the artist gets wind of it, and make a deal. But at this point, they just want to focus on the promotion. So it's kinda whatever. It's been 16 years, they probably don’t care about clearance...yet.

True yeah I remember the issue Lord Tariq & Peter Gunz had with that and lost all the royalties on Uptown Baby. Puff too on I'll Be Missing You but he probably ain't care since he was getting label points.

So I guess Clipse thinking would be, throw this on Youtube for promo but don't put it on the official album where you selling physicals?
