Listened to the leak, gotta say, Malice washes Push on pretty much every track. Hard to judge the production with the leak been so low quality, but I’m kinda disappointed by the album, Pharrell’s hook esp are ass:mjgrin:

I watched that pusha interview with him talking about kanye....

bro just talk to much. Look man I love push and his music but fam in 2011 no one was talking about you no one. kanye gave you complete new life

As someone who’s been a Clipse fan since LW and a Push stan since WGIFC v1, I 1000% agree with this.

Push is conveniently forgetting the part of the story where Clipse had a major flop critically and commercially in 2009 with TTCD and were dropped from their new label, Malice retired from rap because he became more spiritual/was running scared from the Feds after their manager got picked up and Sandman left Re-Up Gang because he was disillusioned with working with the Clipse. So 2010 there was no Clipse and no Re-Up Gang and on top of that, Neptunes were ice cold because the south had the game in a choke hold so there also was no Pharrell or Neptunes to keep him hot.

I also remember him saying at the time he had no interest in being a solo artist so Kanye bringing him into GOOD Music literally saved his career. Kanye’s a piece of shyt and I’m not even a fan of his music like that but what I am grateful for is that he was able to keep Pusha relevant enough so that we could continue to get new music from him because post TTCD, it was looking super bleak for him. But what’s also disingenuous is him talking crazy about Kanye as a man and a leader because you worked for the man for 12 years and were thick as thieves - dude was even at your wedding lol. So that being the case, if that’s what you think about the man, what does that say about your integrity as a man that you propped him up for over a decade?

With all that being said, I still got my iTunes preorder downloading first thing tomorrow and my Kaws and Verdy merch packs are being shipped in the next 5 working days :myman:

push is one of the most fortunate artists of all time, we talk a lot about guys who were unfortunate (labels, leaders, production). hes the opposite

So Be It PART 2 is on the album.

We don't know if that is an entirely new song or an extended version of Part 1.

(Rumors are this is the song with the Hov verse)
It's a new beat. It's the exact same track length as the OG So Be it, and the beat for the new version has been played online.

This is it. I'm assuming it's just the same lyrics, but we'll find out soon

I think yes and no - I say no because Clipse themselves have had their fair share of label drama….I also say yes though because in normal circumstances, anyone who’s group has been dropped by their label three times wouldn’t have the chance to forge the career he’s been able to.

He’s also a really good social climber - the level of features he’s been able to get are quite incredible considering the numbers he puts up each album, alongside the fact that he’s been able to get closely tied with two of the biggest needle movers in Hip Hop history. He’s like a French Montana that’s raps at an elite level loool

It’s funny because it sounds like I’m just straight shytting on him but he is literally one of my GOATS, like easily top ten - probably top five. I think the problem though is that he has cognitive dissonance - he considers himself to be in a position in Hip Hop that the majority don’t consider him to be so he probably gets frustrated which is why he starts shytting on who’s popping so that’s he’s mentioned in the same conversation with them to prove he’s on their level, if not better.

He definitely gets crazy features compared to the numbers. I was really shocked this month to find out the first clipse album didn’t go platinum back then. I thought that first album sold way more than it did.

Eh....

I see what you're trying to say and I agree with certain parts. But others....nah.

You can't really say he's a social climber when "Grindin'" put them on the map and here we are 20 years later with the same producer.

Yes Ye gave him a new life but that's ignoring he also ghostwrote for Ye. People (not you, saying in general) act as if it was a completely altruistic situation on Kanye's part.

Lastly, he beheaded Drake at the height of his popularity. I don't understand what level of hip-hop he thinks he's at, vs where he actually is. All the rapper's rappers (Nas, Jay, Kendrick, etc.) consider him a peer. Despite obviously not selling like that.

If I was him I'd be far more obnoxious than he is. I'd be talking crazy sh*t.

Definitely went plat just never got certified. But it was at 960,000 Soundscan in 2009.

Like any business it pay to be a professional that's good to work with. Pusha is highly respected as an artist and writer by a lot of top dogs in the industry which upsets certain rappers and fanbases. Carved a path where got to make the exact type of music he wanted without much compromise and made a lot of money in the process.

I will say Pusha T has wildly overachieved given who he is. He's been rapping exclusively about cocaine for 20 years and despite that has deals with Lego, Arby's, McDonald's, is a model for LV and Carhartt, signed a multi-million dollar deal with Adidas, etc.

You could chalk some of that up to being friends with Pharrell and/or Kanye....but who cares? Ultimately there's a reason he's where he is and Jim Jones is where he is. Or hell, Cam'ron and Mase as opposed to Jim. At some point you gotta learn to politic and network beyond random people on the block.

Neptunes were ice cold because the south had the game in a choke hold so there also was no Pharrell or Neptunes to keep him hot.

What? The Neptunes peaked during the time The South had the game in a chokehold. The South had nothing to do with The Neptunes being cold. That had more to do with them being at the top for years and inevitably hitting that iceberg like everybody else does.
