Not a fan of the spoken word flow. He sounds much worse than Malice/Push as far as just riding the beat imo :dame: also felt the punchlines and rhyme scheme he was using was corny which can be overlooked if it sounds good and I don't think it sounds good.

They said in the interview with Ebro they wanted to do something different and make it the intro both as a way to honor their parents, who were the genesis of their very lives and also not do the cliche thing which would be to put it at the end.

It was a very specific choice
Avoided interviews from getting spoilers. Makes total sense in context now.

Thoughts after first listen:

-It’s good, but not great like HHNF or Almost Dry

-Barfest. A lot of quotables and tracks I’ll need another listen

-Malice > Pusha. On this project at least. Most of the quotables seem they came from Malice.

-I hate to admit it, but this needed Kanye. Pharrell didn’t knock me over like he did on HHNF, and def not like Kanye (and him) did on Almost dry.

-Pharrel’s singing sounded a lil out of place at times.

-Could have used some switching up, the formula was the same: Pusha starting off every track, doing every hook. Would have liked a solo track from each of them

-Nas dikkeaters wont admit it but his verse was meh. Kendrick’s was :ohlawd:

Off first listen, it reminds me of TTCD more than anything else, but it could have been worse. Clipse are in great form, at the end of the day they're a classic group with superior skills and natural chemistry. They sound fantastic here and its just great to have new music from them. The issues I have with this LP are not with them.

Pharrell has a handful of crazy bangers on here but too many meh productions for a project this short. His hooks on this are weak and sometimes completely disrupt the flow of the song. Also somebody needs to delete the fukking choir setting on his keyboard.

That being said, whatever. Its a Clipse album in 2025. I'm into it.
