I'm a boss was released as a single in philly before it appeared on a mixtape
A single in philly :ohhh::russ:

Come on breh. shyt was on a fukking mixtape and philly radio picked it up. It wouldn't be on an official album until a year or two later when his first album dropped

A single in philly. Like they release city specific singles in the 00s nikka. He didn't even have a label then

Like I said, it was released as a single in philly way before you heard it on the Dreamchasers mixtape

He gave it to Cosmic Kev to spin...and then it took off

I know what I'm talking about

Some singles do take off from mixtapes...like Drake did on SFG

But my original point is that this material is album-worthy

He won't see any bread long-term off of dropping this in the platform it's currently being dropped

To be fair most rappers will be in that boat regardless. Only Drake, Cole, and Kendrick seem like they'll still have touring juice in a decade (in terms of modern rappers).

Meek will probably be gone in a year or two breh.

Meek is top 5 & he gotta plan ahead...this run won't last forever. He needs quality albums to fall back on

Playing it on the radio does not make it a single. Selling it makes it a single. So you just made my point

He had it out in the world, for free, years before he ever had it for sale. Most artists do this. Test their singles out in the world, for free, to see if they pop, before actually selling them

That's why you have most artists putting out "street singles" and 5-6 singles before ever settling on the official "for sale" first single.

If this future song pops, starts getting play on radio and in clubs, it'll be packaged up and sold and the few thousand people who listened to a mixtape for half a week, won't compare to the hundreds of thousands worldwide who will pay 99 cents for it

Why is he wasting quality songs on these EP's & ultimately a mixtape.

I can see his next album being mediocre bc he's using all his juice now

He needs to use all his juice right now to ensure he'll even get to drop another album, and this is coming from someone who loved DWMTM and was only a casual fan of Meek before that.

You're only thinking from a non-business minded perspective

In 10-20 years, he won't be able to tour off of mixtape songs. You tour based on albums & singles

This guy is dropping heat that is not making a dent on radio.

He's gonna be on the chitlin' circuit in 2030 playing the same 5 songs at every concert for the next 25 yrs
It is 2016. Plenty of people are touring off and mixtape songs.

Lol at your "business mind"

The fans who come to his shows will def know the random tracks.
