Grammys are the special olympics of awards.
Which one is better?

Nas has never won best album of the year or best song from anyone if I recall right. He's won like 3 music related awards no Bet, MTV, Soultrain, Source, American Music or Grammy awards.

He won 1 for Why remix from Vibe
and 1 for Daughters on the BET Hiphop awards for Impact something.

Grammy's is one of the best awards, after the hiphop category became complete which was after the good times in hiphop like 98 or something. The people who deserves it often wins given that they're relevant (i.e. sold some records). A few snubs here and there, but generally they get it right. Ain't no other award gonna give The Roots 3 Grammy's in the same nightl

Not much between LIG & Take care review wise they both more or less got the same level of critical acclaim, Drake having big hits & more popular album makes it more likely to win. Having said that i don't pretend to understand the grammy's the old white men picking these awards are unpredictable.

You think 1 author who writes for a Global News Channel(not an entertainment magazine or respectable music magazine) means shyt?

actually i do believe those douchebags are more influenced than they let on. they really dont know shyt about hiphop so its not above a possibility that they'd read the article and take it into account

He never won a grammy?

Who deserves what is a qualitative question.

Imo
The III, College Dropout, Late Registration, Marshall Mathers LP (2001 better, but both are classics), MBDTF, Vol.2 (Aquemeni was better, but I'm not fronting if anyone says Vol.2), Stankonia (this is hard BP is classic too, but I'm not fronting if anyone says Stankonia), Graduation, The Eminem Show, The Speakerboxxx/Love Below.. Which is more than half the albums.

As far as best hiphop single goes, that's a hard genre since 1000 singles come out and it's hard to choose what type of song should win. A street banger (What You know), a commercial song that takes over the world like ESOM, a club banger like Hot in here, a street classic (99 Problems) etc.

As far as snubs, I'm just going by 98 -
I think "I Can" by Nas is the biggest snub since 98, since it was a highly relevant and a classic joint with substance which could've done a lot for hiphop singles.

In 2010 they gave album of the year to Taylor Swift. They said the best musical album released all year was by Taylor Swift. Just let that sink in and it should be clear how retarded the Grammys are.

Awards and nominations
Totals
Awards won 138
Nominations 179

Swift has been the recipient of six Grammy Awards, eleven American Music Awards, seven Country Music Association Awards, six Academy of Country Music Awards and thirteen BMI Awards. As a songwriter, she has been honored by the Nashville Songwriters Association and the Songwriters Hall of Fame.

Perhaps the world is retarded, perhaps we just don't agree or maybe we're retarded for not liking her.

But everyone seems to give her awards, she sells the most and gets quite good reviews from everyone.
She does not seem like a reason to hate on the Grammy's. Now if Justin Bieber was out there winning awards, we would have a case. You might've been on one, the Grammys is the award show where he's gotten the least nominations. He got 1 and that year Esperanza Spalding straight dropped on him.

What I respect them for this year is not nominating Nicki Minaj to a single award in the hiphop category, while all the other cocksuckers did it.

I think all awards are ass cause Imo most commercial music is ass, but The Grammys is one of the better.
Someone independent with power like Pitchfork should throw together an award show, that would probably be dope.

As far as Hip Hop albums go, the Grammy didn't do a poor job in the 90s and got it right more often than wrong, but Stillmatic not getting a nod at all and "One Mic" not being nominated whatsoever was criminal.

The Carter III winning when every other album in that category was better than it was the worst in recent memory. The Grammys for rap are usually just popularity contests, and it's just that in many times in history, what was most popular was also very good. The exception being that 50 Cent never won at the peak of his popularity.

The Carter III was the album of thea year according to most people in 2008 and got the best reviews of all hiphop albums (commercial and underground).

And Stillmatic not being nominated was kinda odd, one of the oddest. The winner was imo correct (Eminem). BUT Mystikal and Petey Pablo instead of Nas and Scarface was laughable.

Specially since Nas had both God's Son (which imo is better than Stillmatic) and Stillmatic. And Scarface a classic in The Fix shyt was laughable, I hope someone got fired. PETEY PABLO :steviej:
