Truth hurts. Young men are failing right now and the result is society failing. Avoiding college (while often having the money for college), settling for bad-yet-comfortable jobs, and a complete lack of social skills is killing men in this country. Video games and adolescent nerd films have men out here focused entirely on trivial shyt.
Consider the amount of broke, desperate men in Germany after WWI, who gravitated to Hitler and powered his army. We’ve seen this movie before in human history. When men struggle or become stagnant it leads to military conflict and authoritarianism. The US is clearly on that path right now

These idiots allowed the corporations to send jobs overseas and gut labor unions that ensured that this demographic could buy a house, a car, some nice clothes to attract women.
A lot of these dudes wouldn't be so broke and depressed if they were working a good STABLE job, which used to be the norm.

You would think it would be in the countrys best interest to support the lower-middle class to succeed and be happy
It's normal that men are having problems these days, this is a different age that attacks your mental before you even have a chance. Competition is at an all time high, historically men had to compete with other men for the means of provision. Society corrected itself so the field of competition is way higher and naturally, since women have been on the back burner for literally milenia, they're going hard in the paint (which makes all the sense in the world, human nature and all).
Problem is, expectations have risen high on both ends with the blitzkrieg that propaganda has laid on both men and women. This has caused the heteronormative to change, now it's not enough to provide the basics, you need purchasing power to provide a lot more since so much now exists. Lots of products, lots of entertainment, lots of things to consider that weren't really a factor before. Men's level of self-awareness in this trying times needs to improve.
The world evolved, at a rapid rate, men will have to grapple with the way to survive through that growth. As it is, many men see the amount of work they have to do (internally and externally) and they literally freeze, that's where depression settles in.
The right thing to do would be for men to guide other men through these dire times. Maybe offer special classes for boys. Women certainly don't want to do this job, it's not on them if we want to keep it a buck; they've got their own adaptation to deal with. It's up to men to guide the boys and other men, but we're all too busy trying to elevate ourselves to guide the next of kin. So yeah...failure to do the above will condemn many of our brethren.
