He'll probably have several months of being a main eventer before falling back into mid-card hell once Bron Breakker gets promoted to the main roster. At least he'll be getting a strong paycheck from them.

I don't blame him or anyone at all for going for the money. But it is kinda funny after all the revolution talk, smashing the throne type shyt he did.
I was just saying this. But I think dude realized that there was probably way more money available with the E. Especially with having a kid now. He is probably looking for big money deal and WWE current schedule isnt bad as it used to be so

Cody ultimately ran his course in AEW. He lost his connection to the audience and Brandi never built one. He’s not a big enough star, draw or has the leverage to demand creative control. Imagine if he tells Vince no to a heel turn because charities. Wrestlers have no business booking while active. See HHH. Whether he fails again or not will be on him.

Zarian said the WWE guys were “waving their WWE flag in victory” over the news, and the celebratory tone was excessive given Cody has not signed with WWE.

This, exactly... which is why I don't know why people look at it like "how can they claim they're cutting budget but making so much money?" shyt is simple to understand if people would stop bustin' their brain about it. It's a way to say "paying MFs we don't wanna keep ain't in the budget" without bein' so blunt, that's really that. It's almost like night and day compared to how it was right before the pandemic, where they had a gigantic-ass roster and were payin' a lot of people that were barely ever on the show.

I don't get some things. At this point I believe money was the reason over the EVP downgrade. Like if money was equal, I doubt he'd leave. So....why not pay him the money he wants lol? "He wants Punk money", so? All you heard from AEW fans and even Tony himself was he has more money than Vince.
He's one that wanted a video game before being in business 2 full years, you sunk money into that but can't afford losing money unless they're coming from Connecticut off 90 day clauses? Even for guys that helped build the company and train your wrestlers? And if he does have more money, why are his top guys paid WWE midcard/upper mid money? If Cody wants Punk money, he wants to be paid like the midcarder he is lol. What's wrong with that?
And then WWE knew a story was coming at 10am, next second they're the ones leaking the story at 10 am, but they haven't offered Cody a contract. So Cody left AEW over money but hasn't gotten the money he's looking for yet
