What year is this 2005? No one cares about the radio or what the streets is listening to. They routinely sell over 300k first week while the rappers the streets care for can’t even reach 50.

Future got more hits than both of them. More influence. More classics. More hooks.
Future is close to passing your precious 90s rappers too.

Anyone dumb enough to follow Future and his autotune, just limits their growth both artistically and financially. Why jump in an oversaturated sub-genre where people forget you exist after 3 months of not releasing a mixtape? :dahell:

kendrick and cole make music you play in your headphones

that's the difference.

they perfect for the current streaming smart phone era in that sense.

i've heard people bumping kendrick tho. TDE out here :obama:

and j cole has been touring on his own with his homies for years at this point, he clearly got a following.

Funny thing, I like Future but my top my three is Cole, Kendrick and Big Krit when I want to lyrics. When I want to turn up and get hype, I go Drake, Future and Young Dolph. Most rappers are trash to me overall.

I hate the whole "i dont hear it playing in my area" bullshyt agenda
No there's validity in that argument. It's like 1994 when Nas dropped. Wasn't many ppl in Texas bumping nor even checking for that shyt. Not the radio not the clubs. Nobody played that shyt anywhere. But if you're reading the source or vibe magazine they'd tell you it was the best thing since sliced bread. Same with Eminem he might be overall putting up big numbers but you never just heard ppl in certain places casually bumping Eminem music like that.

Yes Cole and Kendrick sell more, sell out arenas etc but Fewtch is more influential, stays more relevant and more on the conscious of the culture than both.

So you'd have to choose which metric is more important; selling out arenas full of cac fans or being more relevant with the heart and soul of the culture.

I myself am indifferent to all 3 especially since Cole hasnt put out albums I think he should have.

Why y’all even arguing. top 3 isn’t definitive. Your top 3 will be based on your own metric. It’s always been this way.

Some people won’t include Pac in their top 90s rappers. Some won’t include Nas, some won’t include Jay. Some won’t have Biggie. Generally that’s why we used to go with top 5 because it allows for more personal tastes.

just like now. Some lists will and won’t include Kendrick, Cole, Drake, Future, Nicki, Thug. And that’s ok.

All of these artist are influential and impactful in their own way. You could argue for or against any of em.

I think making it top 3 thing just makes it seem more definitive as opposed to top 5, but it’s really just personal taste.

Those fans of Future, like those strippers and followers, don't really respect Hip Hop culture like that. If they can't be bothered listen to regular lyrics that don't contain autotune, they were never down with it in the first place :hubie:

It's not forced at all. Drake Cole and Kendrick record and tour numbers have been consistent and kept them in those spots.

They might not always be hot and that is what you are referring to but besides Drake they don't depend on that. Different career trajectory entirely. If you wanna be a future type artist you will always be chasing relevance. These guys are made on core bases.

It's been a lot of hot artists that came and went while they are around. Just imagine that a while ago Cole speaking to a cloud rap artist are the top of his peak about a generation gap... who now couldn't sell records to save his life. Meanwhile Cole is arguably getting better... Then ask what is the value of being hot vs having a celebrated career. These guys got it made
