Breh he was popular as hell in his region. He was not that major across the whole country. Look at where he did most of his shows. Also major artist would mess with him the left coast is the extremely major it’s not like we are talking about a Midwest artist.

People like slim thug (just an example) have Bentleys and clout also but would you say they were an extremely known artist? He was nominated for awards but didn’t you notice it seemingly Increased in passing. He’s an artist who was more popular in passing than while alive. I’m not sure why you have an issue with this.

This is a hip hop forum at heart (in this realm a lot of us are research needs compared to the average person) and we’ve known about him for a while but how long did the average hip hop listener know about him that wasn’t on the left.

This is probably the best way to describe him. I was a fan, but I'm a fan of hip-hop as a whole. My mom didn't know who he was until he died and that's to be expected. I knew who he was but didn't get into him until mailbox money dropped, and became a big fan around the time Slauson Boy 2 dropped. But I'd be lying if I said he was a household name. That's like saying Benny the Butcher or Westside Gunn are household names. I'm a huge Griselda fan but nobody outside of the hip-hop world would be familiar with them. So I get it.

Yep I remember buying tickets to a show he was having at Echostage and it got cancelled he had to reschedule due to whatever.

But Nip fans were few in the DMV area when I was there, the main people I met who listened to him regularly were from the West Coast like me. I bet a lot of people knew him more for having a baby with Lauren London than his music catalogue.

Pac was an icon while alive however and known coast to coast to include acting circles. Don’t do Pac like that. No one is disrespecting Nip but it’s still the same. He was not that popular. He was far more popular in passing. Pac was known known and sold records while alive and in passing to include throw away tracks he had.
