always have herbs (basil, thyme, oregano, sage, rosemary, parsley). they are easy to grow and it will save you tons of money as buying herbs in the supermarket is crazy expensive when you really think about it. they are very low maintenance as well and you can bring them in during the winter if necessary (although some herbs are hardy and will grown back in spring)
tomatoes are obviously a favorite, as are peppers...they're both pretty resilient and low maintenance
important tips:
1. learn how to prune your plants....essentially that means getting rid of some stems/leaves once your plant has started blooming/flowering. this is important as it will make the growth more manageable and more of the plants energy will go to growing the edible portion of the plant, rather than unnecessary leaves etc.
2. make sure your plant has enough space to grow
3. fertilize/feed your plant - very important as a deficiency in certain minerals etc can ruin all the work you've done
4. insect maintenance - most insects can be kept away if you spray your plant with a weak mixture of dish soap and water
5. understand how much water your plant needs - over watering is just as bad as not watering enough
You should be getting peppers coming in soon, first harvest should be around 1st week of september, then you can get one again before the first frost (in DC i usually pull everything 1st week of November). Consider fertilizing with more potassium and phosphorous, get a like 0-2-2 type fertilizer or fish emulsion/bone meal if u wanna keep it natural. What is the time frame on the peppers?
I planted my pepper plant on Easter, and it is not producing anything.

Im glad you can get some lavender, I haven't had much success with them. My carrots are doing well, well, some of them are.Just planted some lavender, spinach and carrots. I'm also working on cold germination with the lavender.

Go to your organic grocery and buy some zucchini and whichever you eat and like the most, save some of the seeds. Rinse them and dry them out and replant next year, or if your climate favors it take a chunk of it or a whole one, and bury it. I did this a couple years ago and got the plant to come up but it didn't set any fruit because the first flowers didn't come to november or so.Appreciate it. Ill buy some soon.
It's my first time growing them, I'm in Canada but the summer been hot down here. Seems like a versatile plant but you need to spray the plant because the bugs spread diseases and destroy the plant. What's the best weather for them?
I started growing around the middle of May I believe, and they're begging to sprout. I got Trinidad scorpions, green peppers and I think a Ghost pepper, I'll post a picture later. But they seem easy to grow, low maintenance plant. What is the time frame on the peppers?

I put a trellis in for my cucumbers. Those heathens had the audacity to attack the pepper cage! Those curly vines attach quick!
My cherry tomato plant is now 6ft tall. I had to put it in a cage, and put 2 tall bamboo stakes in, and it's still growing!

I think yours should be sprouting by now, what type and how tall is the plant?
