a mostly delightful romp about life in a New York Kitchen filled with all the trial and tribulations you'd expect in today's melting pot of America. 40% of the movie is intentionally in Spanish, purposefully to show the actual realization of the supposed American dream. Most of the movie is shown thru, Luis, a chef and a bully that deserves to get his ass beat within the first 25 minutes. Rooney Mara, from Girl of the Dragon Tattoo stars as his American server girlfriend, much of the first half of the movie is them dealing with relationship problem that you already know of if you've seen any movie ever.
the second act of the movie, the director shows sharp conclusions of what he thinks of the food service industry, the class system, and leaving a few opinions for us, black men which he uses two examples, the first; some dude tries to get laid, its a swing and a miss, but at least he aint gay. The second, you know it when you see it, but in spite the setting being a grill at Times Square, aint too many black ppl in this movie, for all I know it was the same dude all along.
he saves his worst criticism for the average white man, once he can't hide behind his money, I'll leave those Easter Eggs for those brave enough to watch and tolerate the movie.
I fully expect this movie to be on everybody end of year list, and Rooney Mara to get her third Academy Award nomination, but the critics already hating on it, guess it's not white enough, 9/10

Rooney Mara is 40 and they way she got dragged in Dragon Tattoo, you would have thought she would have aged faster. with the black and white asthetic, she easily passes for 27, 28..... must be nice to be born on third base
