It's not, it's a continent it's you that is confused. Mexico is America. The Caribbeans are America. Peru is America. Haiti is America. All this is fact....but ask any of them they would tell they are Mexican, or Peruvian or Haitian etc....but are they not Americans none the less...quite literally they are. What is your NATIONality?

And the definition of American has changed several times of over the decades....if I posted the denotative definition of the word you would try to deflect again.

Hold up a sec. American is a nationality. Its a country. Just so happens that there's north and south america. Do people from France be saying they nationality is European or do they say, I'm French? What about people from Africa? They nationality is not African, its Nigerian or whatever "nation" they are from. Same with Asians.Only continent that is a country is Australia and its only one country I believe. What am i gonna say? Oh I'm a United Statesian?
