My friend who lives in Harlem and is originally from Charleston, SC has a sister who lives in the UK.

His observation was that Jamaicans are viewed similar to the way African Americans are viewed in America. Not going to mention the pork steretypes.

He said that Africans in the UK tend to think they are better than Jamaicans. The other Caribbean countries I imagine are tiny compared to African and Jamaican populations that they are more so a silent group

It's not really just about numbers. Jamaicans have a higher profile due to music, culture, rastafarianism, stereotyping and parody by UK society etc.

Sounds like here in the DMV. American born Africans on that hood shyt ain’t necessarily a rare sight out here, mainly the youth. In the UK, the beef is between Jamaicans and Nigerians. Other Africans and West Indians get along and don't get involved in crime or mindless beefs in foreign lands.

Really? I heard different, and I also heard the Africans would use "slave baby" to refer to Caribbeans, while the Caribbean descended would respond with Bubu.
I'm also pretty sure one project was predominantly Ghanaian, and the other was predominantly Caribbean - and those tensions contributed.

Africans did call us “slave baby” and this was when Jamaicans were Pan-Africanist.

Africans in the UK and Africans in the US are definitely different culture wise. It seems those in the UK have adopted a more destructive street behavior.

Cause The UK / Europe is more oppressive to black people than America could ever be.
