Flames. Its always funny how white folks (and some black folks tbf) think being half white or raised in a white suburb somehow protects you from racism rather than giving you a front row seat to it...

Always said the angriest black people I ever encountered were not the ones I knew from the projects. Without fail they were educated and often solidly middle to upper-middle class. Because they see up close and personal just how pervasive and ridiculous the game is, and their peers tend not to enjoy their company unless they are putting on the dress of a lower class stereotype that fits a sheltered, narrow white perception of blackness. Those are the black people most liable to snap out the blue and beat someone to death.

and you are speaking the truth, the whole article was great but this part really struck out.
The nasty reactions prove his freedom and societal value are contingent on him playing his expected part in the bread and circus of professional football. Once he stepped outside of his role as spectacle, the illusion of his freedom was revealed and replaced by calls for censorship. His critical, independent thought became an affront, rather than a virtue.
Instead of a hardworking, ultra-talented success story, Kaepernick has been cast as an ungrateful charity case who should be happy someone pays him a salary. In America, a high-paying job is a right for some, but a “privilege” to many others — rhetoric naked in its racism.
