No, I think OP is getting at the fact that universities should adjust the curriculums to better prepare graduates. One or two classes on the business aspects of these professions.

Youre in Chicago and talking about dentists don't get paid?
You can go work at a correctional facility and make 100g's.
*edit*
I see what your complaint was, and it's warranted. Most jobs you can do with a high school education. Gotta pay to play though.
Excuses.Because its not as easy as you think? You can't just decide hey I don't like it here, look on CL, find an apartment in LA, and just move.

Excuses.
Save some money, filll out some applications in a state that has high demand for dentists, take a trip there for interviews and such and see what happens.
Treat it like a mini vacay.
nikka I went from the Caribbean to texas just like that and Im doing fine and your most likely way better off than me b.![]()
I'd rather stay here. Its not like I am hurting for money which I see a lot of post in here implying that I am. I just hate that key vital stuff always seems to never be told while in school so you don't look foolish the first few years out. I don't even own a practice yet(and probably wont) and I deal with tons of bullshytWell your good then b in that regard. I thought you was hurting for money.I also have to take clinical and licensure exams in certain states(aka good states like Cali, TX, FL, etc) I mean my license carries over to places like Mich, Neb, IA, etc butI'd rather stay here. I'm going to be a dentist too. How exactly would you describe your experiences @ dental school, lifestyle wise and what was the atmosphere like at whatever school you went to....
I do agree from personal experience that a lot of coursework and (...most) professors don't really prepare their students.
But that's why you gotta take those internships when they pop up. Network. Read a book. And read some alternatives. These institutions and the government don't give a fukk about whether you actually learn anything once you "earn" that degree. It's all a business to them. You gotta take that initiative to make that degree mean something.Holding them accountable won't get you anywhere.
Its cool. First two years are mainly course work, lab, etc. You want see actual pt until the middle of your third year. Lifestyle wise it sucked. I had a few scholarships, but I had a lot of loans. So I worked on the wk in a kitchen for some little change. Complete opposite of undergrad where I was going hard every weekend. As for me, the atmosphere was kind of odd. I mean the people were cool. But as a black male, I was surrounded by lots of asians and arabs. Not the most friendliest ppl in the world. I don't even see why they become dentist because half of them truly don't know how to interact with ppl. Dental school wasn't really hard to me. Just a lot of work. You take the DAT yet?
