Nah Clockers is the most underrated. Fresh is the best

Colors was cool for it's time, but it was way more

Fresh is my #1. I loved that lil' nykka!

Fresh is my favorite too. Incredibly smart film not just a ghetto flick

2 things i never understood:

1) why would corky and estaban (2 bosses) be in a shootout that should be handled by soldiers ?

2) if fresh and his sister go into witness protection what about the aunt and the cousins?

I need to go back and watch Fresh all the way through on Netflix never finished it. Clockers I didn't see til a couple of years ago definitely underrated. Colors is okay but it lacked that real authentic feel like some already said.

1) Well, Estaban was emotional, but even in general most bosses got to their level because they put in work, that shyt never stops. You can have goons all you want, but bosses still have to be on the front line a lot of times. There's a level of respect that comes with it. nikkas need to see your guns busts to respect you. Doesn't matter how much you pay someone, if they don't respect you, they can turn on you at any moment if they think you p*ssy/soft. Fear is a big part of being a boss. You always gotta put in work. It never stops. A lot of times that how bosses lose their power, when the nikkas under him don't fear/respect him anymore and they wipe him out. Because they think he's soft now.

2) Lol I don't think he cared about them at all.

If you really want to keep it 100, Colors is part of the reason why people are gangbanging outside of California.

I never bought that.. i moved around a lot between the midwest, west coast and the south around that time and every city/town had cliques that was bangin them flags way before Colors, hell before rap even had a name...we all know c's and b's is a west coast signature just like folk and people is the midwest way, but nikkas find it hard to believe  that cats move to different places by hook or crook and start over in a Texas, Kansas, Oklahoma, NC/SC, Arkansas, Missouri, GA etc etc

Does Hoodlum/crooklyn/dead presidents count as a hood movies or time piece period movies ?

:ohhh:

But the aunt was a saint.

Estabon could easily have boys shoot the aunt in the head from jail and all those kids would b in foster care. Thats a major L even if he didn't care.

FRESH is probably the best urban film ever made. sean nelson gives probably my favorite child actor performance of all time in it and giancarlo esposito is outstanding as esteban. when fresh shoots the dog :to:

COLORS is sick but of course it isn't "realistic" it was made by madman drug addict dennis hopper when he was probably going his hardest on coke. what can you do? robert duvall is AWESOME in it.

CLOCKERS is one of my favorite spike lee movies and the novel is great too. richard price who wrote CLOCKERS worked on the wire as well (wrote episodes and played the prison literature teacher d'angelo studies under). he's my favorite writer. check out his books.

Crooklyn isn't my goat movie bro. My whole family knows it by heart. So many quotables back to back. "I don't need Yeww to tell Mee how to run My household " "the Knicks won:(" "she got them braids, beads, shells n thangs I didn't know what else to do"
Man when the moms died it still gets me like that color purple scene when the African dude says "mama maaaama".

Colors was the shyt tho fr that jail scene still gives me a tight stomach.

Both are dope af. American Me is very powerful film. When I first saw it I couldn't stop thinking about it.
Blood in Blood out is a complete rip off of American Me. The only difference blood in blood out made the white guy the main character
