How is JT not a central part of Indy's offense and a beast too? Even moreso with a historically inexperienced rookie QB coming in who needs all the help he can get with effective play action and RPO. JT makes all that work. And if they felt like he was disposable or not worth paying, how come they passed on multiple really good RBs in the draft to settle for a late 5th round one.
The only truly great RB in this draft was Robinson. As for JT he's a central part of their offense but already showing injury concerns. Hes also half through his career based on avg. Indy isn't going to pay him like an OL or WR. He's more replaceable in a draft. He'll probably get a 3-4 yr deal for $30M. More proven guys haven gotten less or are fa. The game has changed.

This can be done with a ton of other positions too. How did Derek Carr and Jimmy G contracts work out? How is Kyler's contract working out? How about Amari Cooper? Dez Bryant? Michael Thomas? Ain't nobody in a huff that Brandin Cooks has made over $100m in his career as a short one dimensional WR. Christian Kirk just signed for 4/72, but we're gonna pretend like giving that to a RB is a problem as a second contract? Keenan Allen has been off the field more than on it and he's getting $20 per year.

Y'all will argue RBs down to the bone, but will skip over the context that every other position has bad second contracts too. There's good versions too. Henry got his money and still going. McCaffrey too. Nick Chubb is outperforming the fukk outta his contract. Before that it was Adrian Peterson. Frank Gore. Marshawn. Steven Jackson. Edge. LT.
This is true but it's easier to accomplish goals on offense with cheap RBs as compared to cheap QBs, WR, OL guys. The market currently values WRs more in a passing league than RBs. If it was the 60-90s RBs would be getting top dollar but they aren't the focus now

Except that isn't the argument at all. Some of you act like everything is apples to apples.

A young HB on a rookie contract is valuable.

Teams not wanting to give an HB, a position that takes a lot of wear and tear, a long contract extension after four or five years in the league does not mean they think the position isn't valuable.

How did the contracts for Gurley, Zeke, and Bell turn out? Oh, horrible? Exactly.
Same could be said for several high-paid qb, CB'S, etc..why single out running backs?

It baffles me when you make posts like this because you're smarter than this.

It comes down to position, period. The QB position in today's NFL is far and away the most important position, and it's not debatable. It is that simple. Nothing more, nothing less.

So fukk olinemen? Yall keep forgetting olinemen are the 1st point of contact and are way more valuable to the game of football. Ask LT how important a LT is....

Oline is a highly valued postion, what’s your point? A single OL isnt more impactful than a QB

How are we even having this conversation in 2023 :dead:

Yes the fukk it is.....

What's the quickest way to get to a target? Straight line....what protects the straight line on the line of scrimmage??? THE fukkING CENTER.

:mjtf:

What's another quick way to reacha. Target after the center???? The fukking angle of pursuit.
What protects against the angle of pursuit in football on the offensive line? The LT and RT.

THATS 3 POSITIONS OUT OF 5.

YALL JUST BE TALKING:mjtf:

How does that mean fukk offensive-lineman? There are five OL positions, and one QB.

You can argue LT is the second most important position, but there is really no debate against QB being the most important, especially in the modern NFL.

You're talking an entire five man unit versus a single position.:mjtf:.
