yea the fact that Juveniles episode was 1 hr but some washed NY cats get like 2-3 hrs, and then spent so much time asking about Jay. I can't knock him it's his show, but its some much history outside of NYC I would love to see other podcasts that can dive into it. Like I would love to hear Juicy J or DJ Paul on a podcast because I know the have so many stories.

Chuck D said this after watching last years Summer Jam:
“That shyt is over,” he noted. “If there was a festival and it was filled with anti-Semitic slurs… or racial slurs at anyone but black people, what do you think would happen? Why does there have to be such a double standard?”
Continuing, Chuck D noted:
“It’s just a sloppy presentation of the art form, the worst presentation known to man,” D explained. “It’s negligent. There needs to be a greater representation of the culture and the community on that radio station.” Broadening the discussion to the state of Urban radio in general, D said that, “When people say the word Urban, they don’t know what that means. When they say urban music, they mean playing black artists — and artists outside the community. It should be a representation of playing music by a lot of different artists — non-black artists, too. I just want to see artists be able to have fair game.”
Rosenberg responded with this:
“First of all, Chuck D has always hated radio, He hated WBLS and KISS when they were Black owned and now you hate Hot 97. Hip hop’s doing pretty well. Last time I checked we had some amazing artists out there selling tons of albums. Last time I checked there are two tours selling out football stadiums with hip hop, not too bad. Now is hip hop perfect? Absolutely not. But was it perfect when Chuck D was active in the game? Absolutely not Chuck D, no one elected you president of hip hop,We love you, you're a father of this game, you contributed but we did not elect you president of the culture. No one owns hip hop."
Gonna echo what a lot of these guys have been saying, Chuck D's record of standing up for the cultural is virtually spotless. The story about Pac's love and respect for Chuck is very telling considering how many Pac influenced. I would also be willing to bet that if Kanye was asked about Chuck he would have the utmost reverence for him too.
For all the hip hop trivia that Rosenberg might know, Rosenberg has never done any sort of social or political advocacy. He's just a DJ. He could never dream to have the cultural impact that Chuck D has had. This argument is EXACTLY what Chuck spent his entire career trying to break down for people. What Rosenberg did was blatantly trying to discredit Chuck and his opinion that Summer Jam was a poor representation of the culture.

I remember Davey D had a show and he would have mostly westcoast and some eastcoast cats on there and do in-depth interviews. Not sure if he still does it though.
He's a suburban white man,i don't care how much he says he says he represents the culture,i don't hold him to higher standard because he is exactly what I would expect. He's a hiphop nerd who knows a lot about east coast hiphop and the underground who has 0 ability to connect with a large amount of hiphop music,i would hold ANY black man to a higher standard than I do Rosenberg when discussing certain aspects of the culture,and respect for Chuck D is one of them....Respecting Chuck D musically and because he's supposed to aint the same as actually respecting Chuck D for what he stood for,sumthing Rosenberg CANT comprehend as a white man...he gets a pass because he is white for many things,people hold him to no standard at all which is why he gets away with saying gay shyt,talking shyt about Wiz,people write it off as "He's just a goofy white guy who didn't know that's against the code,ima give him a pass

To me Rosenberg is a product of Hot 97's desperation. His behavior is similar to everyone else at that flopping station. Consider Ebro's playbook for the last few years:
1. shyt talk someone or something
2. Cause a social media argument that garners attention
3. Invite the person you dissed or dismissed onto the radio show
4. Get lots of youtube views/ad revenue
Remember when he dissed battle rap and caused people to catch feelings? What happened next: battle rap dudes showed up on the show, then all of a sudden Ebro is at a major battle rap event. It's shytty promotion based on fake controversy. They did the same thing with Azaela Banks, who then went onto the show and gave them a very popular interview.
So when I heard Rosenberg diss Chuck D my immediate thought was that it made sense from their perspective: that's their playbook. Nevermind that Chuck D is a legend, nevermind that he's a serious guy who isn't going to go onto a radio show to get clowned/disrespected like Buckshot did...they were STILL expecting Chuck D to create the type of response they typically get. Chuck D didn't bite, the community panned Hot 97, and Rosenberg was forced to apologize. But let's be real, it's not like Ebro wasn't in on the entire thing.
Rosenberg is a hip hop head, I wouldn't take that away from him. But he is also a corny motherfukker. From the TDE nut hugging to being so open to dissing Chuck D...I just get the impression he doesn't give a shyt about his credibility, he just wants short term stuff. Less than 48 hours after TPAB came out he declared it a classic. Yall know I love that album but come the fukk on. He acts like a petulant child.

Regardless of what folks think of modern Hot97, Ebro stood his ground here. And regarding Rosenberg, he loves underground hip hop, and will call out the Macklemores and other mainstream White artist, but from what I gathered from the Combat Jack vid, behind the scenes he'll say some slick things regarding Blacks. Like Jack said, he came into Hot97 playing that "Down Whiteboy" role, but has some nefarious angles behind the scenes. I get why folks love him, and I get why folks hate him. Either way, dissing Chuck D rubbed me the wrong way.
