after listening to too many Juan Epstein podcasts i don't think Rosenberg knows as much as people think he does. ther'es lots of eps where he doesn't know fukk all about the guest.he knows obscure shyt that people don't really care about like Hard Knocks album or some random underground NY shyt from 1994

Absolutely. Ask him about west coast hip hop and he won't know a thing.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying Chuck D shouldn't be debated, no one should disagree with him, etc. I'm saying he deserves respect. I don't even agree with his argument about radio but I would never disrespect that man. Rosenberg and Ebro clearly thought he was some sucker they could get onto the program to clown. Just like Ebro clowned and condescended towards Buckshot.

It's as if there's no respect in hip hop. You would never see a "rock/folk head" radio personality disrespect Bob Dylan or Paul McCartney...

i wasnt trying to shyt on PE, but Kanye has done a lot the culture. like @The Ruler 09 said his impact has not been all positive, but the fact remains that kanye is the most influential figure in hip-hop that I have EVER SEEN.

if a legend like Kanye is not off limits then nobody is :yeshrug:

I never assumed you were shytting on PE. I just took it as if you said you didn't have all the info to judge them.

Personally, I like Kanye. I've learned to tune out some of the rants and the publicity and try to just judge him on the art, to be honest. And he gets hit with people saying all sorts of madness about him, because he invites it. He uses the press to his own ends, and it doesn't always end up in his favour. He would have to be beyond naive to not think that everything he says and does is not beyond examination, as a Black man, and more specifically as a Black man in the public eye.

When he says in an interview "My wife is more influential that Michelle Obama" he knows that people will talk about it. Some people will say he's an idiot, some people will agree. But he put that out there for the express purpose of having his name mentioned in conversation.

The definition of 'legend' is fluid these days. We're essentially having a 'Mike/Lebron' convo now.

I can respect the fact that he means more to you than Public Enemy because it's music that you came up listening to.

But we're getting away from the real point here:

Rosenberg is still a herb.

If it's no regard for if it's a positive or negative influence then that would mean Hitler or David Duke would be "off limits" too. Kanye did a lot of shyt to benefit himself, Chuck D/Public Enemy did and do shyt to benefit others too. It's like disrespecting MLK or Malcolm after what they did for everybody. You don't seem to get it, possibly because of age and lack of research but Kanye isn't on the same stratosphere as Chuck as a Hip Hop legend or anywhere near respected by real dudes like Chuck is. Kanye is an artist, Chuck D is beyond on that culturally in Hip Hop while being a great legendary artist too. If you even think dissing the 2 are even comparable you need to do more research, or maybe you just won't get it but there's no comparison. Kanye hasn't done anything approaching what Chuck D did for the culture, Chuck D to this day is still doing things to benefit and help everyone. I don't think you're gonna get it though yet, unfortunately, but all we can do is hit you with the info...

This 100%. As a white dude, I would just be uncomfortable dissing Chuck D on a public platform, even if I wasn't a fan. It just seems tacky. I don't think anyone is above criticism or anything. But I do see hip-hop as black culture, and as a white dude I'll even take it another level and say that it's important to know that someone like Chuck D probably isn't a smart choice for criticism, even if he were the worst guy in the world.

I also agree that there should be more reverence for elders. Clowning Buckshot is silly. People make fun of Bob Dylan's voice but like you said, it's rare to see him straight up disrespected.

kanye has done more good than bad, IMO. his first two albums are two of the best albums I have ever heard in my life :yeshrug:

what has kanye done that is a bad influence? :ohhh:

he a rapper, his job is to make great music and he has done that for years (until his moms died and he fell the fukk off) :mjcry:

You talking about how PE had this great impact and changed people's lives, but fail to realize that kanye has done the same. He has inspired millions of kids from my city to always strive for more :obama:

im not dissing PE at all, but to shyt on kanye tells me that NOBODY is off limits. Hell people shyt on TUPAC and he has done more for hip-hop than anybody EVER :pachaha:

Could you imagine a Black DJ on a country station talking shyt about Willie Nelson? They would have his shyt boxed up and ready to go as soon as they hit the next commercial break.

Ok cool, well you're entitled to your opinion. I think Kanye did some good when he first came out (and of course before with production) but after that largely bad, very bad and detrimental, played a huge role in allowing fukked up shyt to occur. I liked College Dropout, were some classic joints on Late Registration too. I've spoke about the Kanye stuff at length before, but he's done a huge amount of negative too in my opinion after a certain point.

That's very vague "strive for more" Public Enemy REALLY changed people's lives, legit.

Kanye deserves to be dissed at times, Chuck D doesn't, Chuck is an OG in the game. 2 Pac is my favourite rapper/artist but you could see why people would diss Pac while he was alive. Chuck D though? No. Even Pac had the UPMOST respect for Chuck D, as seen in his letters to Chuck, he even fukked people up for Chuck lol, and was inspired by Chuck. You don't disrespect a dude like Chuck D, he was never on no gangsta shyt or even on the I'm the best tip, there's no legit reason to disrespect Chuck D who has done much more for Hip Hop than Rosenberg and most people infact.

He was disrespecting, you can respectfully disagree or critique someone, anyone, that's fine. But he said he was a troll and tried to demean his words on Hip Hop culture, you can't do that to Chuck. Even his tone got kind of loud and abrasive, it was unacceptable and pissed a lot of people off, to Chuck D of all people...

NY all day..Da Stead & BK..
Exactly I'm tryna think of who havent yall nikkas disrespected on here?and ive disrespected people considered legends....lefs be honest it really boils down to him being white and disrespecting Chuck D....because what he said wasnt the worst thing i've heard somebody be told or asked....but he's white and a guest in hiphop:manny:

besides Combat Jack need that fade for disrespecting Pac and for them Nore contracts:sas2:...if that shyt wasnt disrespectful:mjlol:

if these cats want to let themselves get disrespecfed by the likes of Star and Rosenberg thats on them....they shouldve been had they head cracked by sumbody who dont give a damn about that radio shyt, people either like this dude or they shook:heh:
Fam u don't think a radio personality in NY who supposed to represent the "culture" and constantly says so should be held to a higher standard than some random posters on an internet forum?...u don't see the difference?..I'm willing to bet over half the people on this forum are either mad young or some corny white boys...and aren't representatives or in influencial positions whatsoever...
