Man I got a lot of respect for CJ but the last show with David Banner was borderline listenable, he damn near interrupts him every other sentence to make some lame joke or unnecessary inference. Never gives the guest time to breathe with a question, always interjecting mid answer. He had a good run I guess :francis:
yo, it's almost like he's doing it out of spite now because he's talked about- "people have been complaining about it, but fukk it I'm gonna do what I want and listen to another podcast if you don't like it." that forced laugh of his is almost as bad as Elliott Wilson's too.

I couldn't get through 20 min of the David Banner ep because of what you mentioned.

they need to just shut that podcast down. neither one of them are even into it at this point, Cyph is depressed, Rosenberg is feelin himself waaay too much these days, and it's almost like they do it as if it's a favor to us...it's not. that podcast is played out and way behind at this point. the interview with Young Guru was cool, but this last episode with the Bink "interview" was an embarrassment. why even bother uploading that garbage?

Combat isn't bad at that. Some of y'all. Want these people to keep rambling. Conbat at least tries to move the dialogue forward.

I used to go on long ass walks just so I could listen to the Combat Jack Show while breathing in my neighborhood. Hearing Combat, Dallas, Pete, Matt Raz, the DJ etc shooting the shyt was infinitely entertaining. And I liked how the guest would be incorporated into the madness. Sometimes it was too chaotic and I wished they'd come up with some type of system to make interviews go smoother but I still loved the show.

Then it became just Combat and Pete. And at one point it was if Pete wasn't allowed to say shyt outside of maybe one random question. I hated that. My interest was already waning and I quit the show.

Everyone has a podcast now. Being the serious guy who interviews people might work on a podcast about studio equipment but when you talking about music or sports or entertainment I want to hear some damn passion and humor. I loved the convos they'd have about Walking Dead for instance, that shyt was more entertaining than actually watching Walking Dead lol.

It seems like Combat was on the verge of doing some big things and then everything stopped. Now the market is so big and nobody really recognizes you for being an OG of the market. Both Combat Jack and Juan Epstein haven't really gone where I thought they'd go, and they're the two older podcasts in the game.
Correct if I'm wrong, but doesn't CJ own or co-own Loud Speakers Network that has a bunch of other popular podcast under him like The Brilliant Idiots? I would say CJ captured the market early and is eating well off of it.

I can't take Rosenbergs fake HipHop ass At ALL. Dude claims to be this big HipHop head from the 90s and get's schooled and always acts surprised about basic info that HipHop heads from the 90's should know "OH WOW REALLY I NEVER KNEW THAT!?" - Rosenberg
:stopitslime:

Literally anyone can do his job. It shocks me how in NYC the Mecca there is not 1 black person who was listening to HipHop in the 90's qualified to host anything and Rosenberg is the best they have to offer. I refuse to believe that breh......

:russ: yeah, especially when he says/thinks he's dropping a Hip-Hop fact/gem...he was going nuts on that Young Guru one

Rosenberg: Hold up, hold up! Renegades was a Royce and Em track! :mindblown: This is a hip-hop nerd fact alert

The show is still good to me but it's 100% dependent on the guest. The No Malice and Eric B episodes were great. I like hearing the guests talk as much as possible and all these hosts just get in the way.

As long as the guest is actually somebody...I hate listening to the Hennypalooza guys or these industry/twitter lames.

His hip hop knowledge is real specific. He's like a 46 year old NY nikka

Was just speaking about this the other day.

After Pete left, the show got kinda weak.

Pete's new podcast is already better than The Combat Jack Show. He's just more personable and funny, which is what you need when hosting a podcast.

:comeon:

I liked Pete on Combat Jack and I peeped his new show a couple of times, but he was maybe 15% of the show if that much. He was the Flavor Flav of the show. Good in small small doses only.

Combat still gives the best interviews out of all the podcasts.

yeah, Jack's podcast is too hit and miss now but theres not really a podcast out there that is essential listening every week.

it just being him does work with certain guests with others it doesn't and you want another voice here and there.
it's got Juan Ep-ish in terms of i'll see the guest and then i'll only listen if i'm interested in the guest now.

speaking of Juan Ep i do feel like they do it just to do it now.

Rosenberg as he constantly reminds us has several jobs, never been busier, new apartment blah blah blah
Ciph....Roc Nation, comedy etc etc.

like i said, if it's a get i'm interested in i'll listen, if its someone i'm not i won't..when it's just those two talking i'll start it and then see where it goes because to be fair to them theres been a few of just those two i've enjoyed..i think Laura Styles adds to it whenever she pops up when they don't have a guest. for starters Ciph is way more engaged in the conversation when she's there because it can tend to be Ciph complaining about life in between Rosenberg just talking at Ciph.

RapRadar, if i don't like the guest...no chance i'll listen to it.
DrinkChamps, i like 2 Chainz, Curren$y etc as people and like their music but it's always going to be better when Nore has a clear history w/ the guest.

then you have podcasts that straddle the line of hip-hop like Bodega Boys, Tax Season, Brilliant Idiots.
Brilliant Idiots, i always start an episode and you can tell how its going to go after a few minutes if you know how to skip this episodes..i'm not one to talk about or hear about tranny's but i'm fed up about hearing about tranny's because of them, although when Wax is chiming in it's funnier. Tax Season started out funny and reckless with no clear shape then it got kind of predictable..i have a good 6 episodes of that to catch up on though.

need to give Pete's a try.
