^^^^yeah. go. that's your wheelhouse too. try and detach your nostalgia in favor of what's what.

I have no nostalgic bias towards any era. and if I did, it certainly wouldn't be for the early 2000s. you forget my ears are older than me.

hit-or-miss era.

i'll be back later.

I liked the production on the majority of these songs being posted. But what is undisputed is that none of these records are classics (with the exception of Through the Wire - which isn't the type of beat Mel is talking about in the first place). Disposable Art.

Anyone under the age of 25 would disagree. Furthermore, "Ha" is absolutely a classic rap song.

Ha is an abomination. "You keep your body clean ha". But I agree with you that most would consider that a classic record. In any event - it is not from the Aughts and not the kind of beat Mel is talking about in the first place. So its not even up for discussion.
And I was 18 when Ha dropped.
What other records do you think are classics?

Manny Fresh was ahead of his time. I wasn't arguing that any other song mentioned in this thread is classic, but majority of these songs are significant to some degree for people under 25 perception of rap. I notice those with old ears and no chill trying to start some kind of narrative that the Neptunes were wack. Dudes are mad goofy on here.

Significant and classic are two different things.
I like the Neptunes. How many classic songs do they really have though?

They're pop producers and under that lens, they have an extensive catalogue of classics. shyt like In Search Of, Hell Hath No Fury and the stuff with Kelis are more than acceptable being labeled classic, if you look past just rap. Who else laced rappers with better radio friendly, poppy crossover singles then the Neptunes?
