It isn’t energizing anything. She can die Dec 15th and McConnel will speed some conservative into it.

she has to stay alive for 6 more months.

Flipside, I think if they did put somebody into her seat or even tried we will see a whole slew of new riots and a Republican Congress member might get approached and yoked up or worst.
I'm talking about the fact that the one issue that unites conservatives (whether they hate Trump or not) is the Supreme Court. Having the opportunity to replace RBG with Amy Coney Barrett is what almost every conservative salivates about. If RBG passes before November, many conservatives will "hold their nose" and vote for Trump in order to expand conservatives control over the Supreme Court.

An underrated factor in Trump winning in 2016 was conservatives not wanting Hillary to get to appoint a successor to Antonin Scalia. Many of them held their nose and voted for him because of that.

I don’t like the tone of this thread.... we shouldn’t be trivializing people death/health to “how does this affect us politically”. I don’t like when the other side does that, and I don’t want to be a hypocrite.
That’s the game when it comes to a term limitless SC that has the potential to be weaponized. :yeshrug:

Honestly I think it won’t work as much. The court is stacked in their favor. It will be hard to worry them about it when, they already have the majority. I legit think the worst thing that can happen to them in the grand picture is they steal another seat and a Dem congress and President are elected. The court being 9 members and life time appointments isn’t in the constitution.

Biden will be elected with enough popular support to go at them, and the both Garland‘a seat theft, Kavanaugh being a clown, and a second seat theft would give him and a liberal congress enough support to restructure the whole thing.

Exactly,

here is another question nobody wants to really ask. Say McConnel sneaks in a Republican and Biden is elected. I think people would be so pissed it would lead to a expansion of the Number of Supreme Court seats or he might legit kick the chosen person out.
this

i almost hope mcconnell does something like that, because then we can have the conversation about getting rid of this ridiculously outdated institution, and his cheating/hypocrisy will have given the dems all the justification they need

i mean fukk taking sides on the politics. we're at the point where both sides are just waiting for justices to die and hoping it's while their guy is in office :what: there's nothing remotely healthy about that

You’re right. There should be term limits. So judges can be rotated in and out the court. It legit might lead to a better court overall. Right now millions of people are hoping death on all 9 depending on their party affiliation.

She should’ve retired man. She could be at home right now relaxing and taking care of herself but instead she has to stay on the bench because she wanted to gamble on Hilary winning. Why?

Democrats thought that Hillary was going to easily win the 2016 election. Of course, they didn't anticipate the progressive backlash (from Bernie & company) and they definitely didn't think of the complete wild card that came out of nowhere (the Trump 2016 campaign).

Everyone knows this too, including Dems and Reps. Hence why they will never push forward any type of term limits.
