dad abused mom mentally emotionally and sometimes physically. He was taking steroids so i understand but i hate him for it, he lives in miami with a new family so whatever it is what it is. My mom is one of my best friends though in some ways.

and not to say that tragedy hasn't struck near me before, but compared to 99% of the world I have/had it good. Not to say having it tough is good, but it does make you a stronger person in the end.

It's hard to say when my parents separated, cause before my pops got deported when I was 12, he was always around. He made it back in the US, but by then I think they was already on the outs. When I was like 18/19 him and my mom tried again and we moved to Ohio. They're separated now, but they're not divorced. I don't think Jamaican's ever really get divorced though 
Married longer than me and my siblings have been alive, still together and they're going on a cruise next month.

I haven't spoken to/ seen my dad for about two years now... called him on fathers day and left him a message and he never returned the call. Its what he did, only showed up in my life when he chose to, so I decided to stop speaking to him.

father was a mean ol' b*stard who hit my mother from time to time, especially on special occasions when he got drunk like a fat samoan pig! Mom stood by his ass and finally got the courage to leave him after me and my elder siblings influenced her to do so..she is happy living by her family in Cali..
My pops has calmed down since those years and is just chilled out and pretty much quiet, i still keep keep close to him and my children are definitely in his life, he is definitely a changed man.

My parents were married before they had me & my siblings, they got divorced in 1998 when I was 6. They're both married again (to different people lol). I'm still close to both of them.

Actually research shows that child rearing years are the most unhappy years for married couples. Depending on how strong the marriage is, the children leaving will bring back happiness or make them realize they have nothing in common anymore. Seems like your parents are getting back to the root of what got them together in the first place.

white men/black women marriages have the lowest divorce rate of any married pairing (I think that is according to the census, but I would have to check).
