my school didn't care. 70% of people smoke weed as youths. and the majority of them grow out of it as adults or just dabble on occasion and go on to live productive lives. You not helping anybody by being zero tolerance, you just ruining lives.

It’s ridiculous to expel kids for this. It’s even more egregious to report them, and start them out in the system in high school.

Why do kids need to smoke weed before school?
What problems, issues, feelings etc., are they trying to self-medicate? It's not the "what" but the "why?" Most of my homies in middle school would smoke in the morning by the baseball field. I'd lookout to make sure they didn't get caught by our assistant principal because that 6'6" breh had a nose like a bloodhound.
Never felt the urge to smoke back then.
Kids should not have their future ruined over some weed.....but we gotta figure out why our kids always have these vices: smoking B & M/cigs, drinking, weed..whatever.

Ironically the kids did a walk out earlier this year. Teachers included. He's so strict that at one point, he wouldn't let you in school unless you had on the proper uniform. And that's illegal. There's no state law that requires a student to wear uniform to school. That can have uniform policies and penalize you. But not being let in the bldg is illegal. He just don't care though.

It’s not federal property though. It’s city, county or state property and subject to state laws and city ordinances. Will 100% be thrown out of court if it even escalates to it which I imagine it won’t since there would be no state statute that was violated to attach a charge and escalate it up to fed courts. Federal prosecutors will have never even known about some principals power trip at a random high school.

As far as issues they're trying to self-medicate. I'll give you one from a convo I had with a girl this week. Her father was shot and killed when was 12. She blames herself and believes she is the one who should have taken the bullet. Fortunately, I convinced her to talk with a school therapist. But not everybody is going to be open with strangers to talk about their problems. So they sef-medicate.
Alot kids smoke vapes in the bathroom though. He'll expell them over that as well. It's a bigger problem then weed as far as smoking inside the school. They get away with it more though because they'll get they type that smells like cologne. Some even smoke it in the classroom while their teacher is not looking.
