As much as Kanye West became a full fledged c00n from 2016 through now, his first 3balbumd were much needed in the 00s, when street rap post GRODT became parody material and stagnated.

50 cent killed NY hip hop by creating disunity..

There was always beef, but 50 made it corporate and had the petty feminine argument that money>> skill.

Which is why quality music is non existent.

A lot of people don't want to admit it, but they hate socially conscious rap with good beats more than racist CACs. :mjpls:

Hating on Dead Prez and trying to erase them from the history books is some white propaganda BS.

Hip Hop takes itself too serious. Hip Hop artist would be a better benefit if they treated what they do like theater. Instead of always insisting that they are 'real'.

The people who say Wu are overrated and always talk slight towards them, do so to sound edgy and pretentious.

Cash money was mediocre at best. Mannie Fresh and Birdman always looked out of place to me. Like they were too old to be acting like that.

KRS-One is overrated.

Kool G Rap's style was imitated by a lot of different MCs. I rarely see his name mentioned among notable rappers.

As much as I like 'good' hip-hop, it really shouldn't be placed at the forefront of Black music. Especially since, we created Blues, R&B, Jazz, Gospel. Hip-hop has its place but shouldn't be the first thing brought up when talking about Black music.
