I ain't shyt on King Von the little that I did hear of him I liked. It's different levels of storytelling tho. King Von is more Scarface than The Last Emperor or Nas. But I can dig it, you want stories like "A Good Day" and not like "Secret Wars"

no he is not more like Scarface, scarface is better than him and better than Nas. Sheesh now you gonna make me sound like im degrading Von. But Von doesnt have the introspective and observations that Face has. Hell neither does Nas(he does , its just not as good as Face). Nas is dope with the creativity. But the depth, introspectivness, observations, imagery all together that Scarface does makes him better than both.

and Von is dope with how he has the tempo and upbeat cadence he has to make the storytracks he does instead of most rappers that get monotone, melo, etc.

its one thing to just have some imagery, its another when you combine that with the other elements a writer/storyteller covers to execute a great story which is what Face does amazingly. Nas is dope to but Face executes it better

people talk about artist(this is usually reserved for Gangsta/Street rappers) being repetitive in their topics

when fact is all rappers reuse the same topics and core concepts they are good at/or something that fits their comfort zone.

Im no fan of drake, but this is why i found the "he covers the same stuff" a bad gripe to have.
all artist have core themes they constantly cover whether its due to comfort, beliefs or their style.

what should make a artist creative is what they do with those themes and how they play with it. it should not be based on a rapper needing to go concious, go weirdo alt rap artsy, or do "grown man rap" to be "creative"

thats dumb as hell, and shows the double standard of how a concious rapper can regurgitate the same thing for decades and never called repetitive

but gangsta rappers are pressured to have to "change it up".
