They could've been Snoop and Dre. TI and Toomp. The two clearly brought the best out of each other and the results were Common having the most cohesive albums in his career. Be is my favorite Common album and Finding Forever is underrated imo. Kanye showed that he's at his best when he producing albums for other artists and he brought that fire back in Common

Then he fukked up and made Universal Mind Control:martin:

Since then Common has gone on to be more actor than rapper and Kanye has lost his damn mind. The two still make good music separately but to me this is when they were at their peak.

At least we can go back and revisit those times:mjcry:

you're right man this is a good thread premise. imagine if the two of them worked more together and created some more of these sonic landscapes. i like your comparisons to dre/snoop, t.i./toomp. clearly the two have hella chemistry

For those two albums they were one hell of a team. The crazy part is how Common signed to Kanye's label and they started working together less:dahell:

well Ye kind of stopped doing outside production, and Com always switches his producers up every 3rd album

it was the shot in the arm he needed, tho. Electric Circus damn near killed his career, i had personally given up on him after that bullshyt but Ye saved him
Its a shame becuz to me Kanye is at his best behind the boards

This section is always so corny leaving kanye out of top producers lists, the man handed common a classic album on a silver platter

"I don't listen to c00n producers" - Thecoli :mjlol:
Im not the biggest Kanye fan but Id be lying if I said he wasn't a top 10 all time producer

both albums are personal classics but this was when kanye started falling off and stopped producing things by himself, it was when he became a follower as opposed to an originator imo ... i think kanye has lost all confidence in himself to produce a full album
To me it seems like Kanye gets distracted easy and over the past decade as he’s become a superstar he has more distractions obviously. During these years he was in a zone

Disagree for the simple fact that both men had classic albums on their own before working together. I mean if Jordan and Magic play on the same team, of course they are going to win a championship. Doesn't mean they brought they best out of each other, it's just two legends will make legendary shyt happen.

You basically got two full great albums from them.

Ole greedy ass nikkas

:picard:

I was just gonna say this :heh:

If a new rapper debuted with Be and then followed up with Finding Forever, hipsters would be writing thinkpieces about them.

Be grateful they gave us albums that we can still listen to 10 years later.
