To me it seems like Kanye gets distracted easy and over the past decade as he’s become a superstar he has more distractions obviously. During these years he was in a zone
it was once he became a kardashian he lost his soul and lost all ability to produce an ablum of these standards imo

I think his mother’s death has affected him irreversibly. He refuses to go back to the soulful sample chopping Kanye. I dunno if him trying to stay relevant to the youth by using hot producers of the day but....

I miss this Kanye. I mean we all do. Him and common have too many classics. And I’m sure there are things in the vault from those sessions.

One of my personal favs is back to basics. I can’t find it on YouTube...

They could've been Snoop and Dre. TI and Toomp. The two clearly brought the best out of each other and the results were Common having the most cohesive albums in his career. Be is my favorite Common album and Finding Forever is underrated imo. Kanye showed that he's at his best when he producing albums for other artists and he brought that fire back in Common

Then he fukked up and made Universal Mind Control:martin:

Since then Common has gone on to be more actor than rapper and Kanye has lost his damn mind. The two still make good music separately but to me this is when they were at their peak.

At least we can go back and revisit those times:mjcry:

I know, right? I agree. :wow:

Y'all STAY forcing "Be" as some sort of epic collaboration. Which is hilarious because a) Com was already washed and Ye sped up that process and b) Dilla ended up having the best songs on that album.:mjlol:

I liked "The Food" (Chappelle version) like everyone else, but it's not even a top 5 Common song. Which summarizes Ye. He'll get you that hipster buzz you need, but nothing he produces will be in the upper echelon of greatness. I remember telling people that "Go" was the best Kanye beat on the entire album and people laughed. Anytime a song is focused on a woman your typical hip hop nerd freezes and dismisses the record.

Then years later, this happens:

People laughed cause that's one of Kanye's worst fukking beats and it hasn't nothing to do with it being a female oriented song.

A beat so bad it helped launch Cole's career?

In fact, when was the last time someone 'new' spit a freestyle over a Kanye beat from "Be", released it without any video to accompany it (e.g. no radio freestyle), and it's racked up more than a mil views on Youtube? :jbhmm: if you have any receipts I'd love to see em
