"Announcement" was the only good some on UMC. When I first heard that and hearing it would almost be entirely produced by the Neptunes, I was hype :leon:....then he dropped the album and it was :scusthov:

Man Common has to be the ultimate bounce back MC. Everytime he drops something trash he comes back with classic material. Electric Circus was before BE. UMC was before Dreamer/Believer and now he manages to drop this after that Nobody's Smiling weed plate.

Common is one MC you can never count out :wow:

:russ:i was furious when I heard UMC

UMC is the worst album by a legendary rapper of all time

It's worse than Blueprint 2, Nastradamus, Lex Diamond Story, and any other mediocre/terrible album I could name

the fact that that album was almost entirely produced by the neptunes only adds more insult to injury. like pharrell gave him all their worst throwaway beat on one album.

I know people don't have a lot of love for Nobody's Smiling but The Neighborhood has one of Com's Illest verses

Have you ever heard of Black Stone around Black Stones?
And Four C H'd, Vice Lords, Stony Island on Aces
The concrete matrix, street organizations
They gave violations, hood public relations
It was the basics to get big faces
Stay away from cases, bad broads, good graces
The hustles was the taste makers and trend setters
They the ones that fed us hopin' that the feds don't get us
The era of Reagan, the terror of Bush
Crack babies, momma's a push, we were the products of Bush
I'm wishin' for a Samurai Suzuki and a little Gucci
A bad ho to BBB do me, you heard of flukey?
Stokes it was folks and coke and dope
Fiends choked off of smoke, herringbones and rope
Rare jewels of a generation
Diamonds, blind enough so real shyt we facin'
Forties wasted on seats, Dion makin' the beats
When they air it out on at the parties we escapin' the heat
I could break it down like whatever you need
He squinted his face and rolled the weed

North Jersey but I miss Cali :sadcam:
Ok so...

Common is 44. He will be 45 early next year so as a rapper I have to judge this album for what it is and the lane Common currently drives it.

Album was simply a Common like album. From the theme from the beats to the lyrics. It was a typical Common project. Effort and execution was A+.

With that being said this album sounds like it could've dropped in 1999 - 2002 circa :manny:

The thing I love about hip hop is the sound can evolve and branch out into different moods, sounds and themes.

Since Common doesn't collab with new artists or branch out in this era, his music pretty much sounds the same, which isn't a bad thing because I can bump this but it's not something you can put in the rotations on a daily basis.

That verse and Herb's verse was :wow:

After that track shyt was :scust: until Kingdom, Rewind That, and the bonus cuts saved the album from being out right :trash:
