while on the other hand, nas has always rapped over garbage beats and is still mentioned among the greats

so yeah, common is overrated..he don't have any stand out verses either

Com Sense from Like Water & Electric Circus isn't the same Com Sense as Ressurection, Be, One Day. I hate Like Water for Chocolate for the same reason I dislike Electric Circus. It's just too experimental for me, all over the place, too left field. The Light, Funky for You & The Questions are tracks they I find annoying. I love 6th Sense and I don't even remember rest of the songs.

I don't think anyone can disagree with Kanye rejuvenating his career. After Electric Circus, if not for Kanye & Be, he would have been forgotten by mainstream. Be was a breath of fresh air. As for him as a lyricist, he's always been nice but I think it's tends to get lost in that he doesn't convey his emotions in his tracks enough. There's no denying him as a great, off lyrics alone; but his albums have 3 different levels - GREAT, GOOD and that OTHER STUFF. He has no true classics, but he does have great albums.

How can some one be overrated when he's had little mainstream success in comparison to ACTUAL overrated rappers like Ross who have made millions out of having a catchy flow and an ear for production.

You need to go skim your dictionary, this thread is trash and lazy. Provide me a reason as to why he's, 'overrated' and come back to me. The guy has been under appreciated his whole career, he's always spat nothing but truth in his lyrics and never received the shine he deserves for his music.
