I don't know how anyone listens to the song "Resurrection", "6th Sense", "1999", "Invocation", "The bytch in Yoo", etc and says "yeah, this guy was never a good rapper". You obviously haven't heard his shyt. His catalog speaks for itself. He's obviously a legend. I don't think he's top 5 or even top 20 but he's in the top 50 convo.

I hear you but the shyt is mind-boggling. There's zero excuse. Brilliant art always stands the fukk out. It's like night and day. I remember hearing the second verse of "6th Sense" and my mind was fukkin blown. It's right there on paper.

Today, someone can learn as much about hip hop in one year that might've taken someone 10 years back then to know.

OP's a great poster. His thoughts on Be are spot-on. And at least he's opening up the floor to conversation like a good poster should. He'll learn some shyt. He may still agree or disagree on Com's overall quality but that's up to him.

Unlike the shytposters who flew in here chirping about neg trains like toddlers jumping on new Lego. It must suck for these weirdos in the real world not being able to neg people but then again, they probably don't get out much.

I snatched it up on vinyl. Found that and LWFC and had to get em.

Be is one of my favorite albums of all time. It was around the time Kanye started moving away from the chipmunk soul sound and was getting in his Dilla bag. Common got back on his everyman mode with a journeyman wisdom.

I play it at least once every couple months.

I came in here ready to say even if you didn’t necessarily rock with Common, that mf album was laced, and OP specifically called out the beats To each their own. Dilla the gawd who birthed my favorite producers, and Ye one of my top 3 producers in my lifetime this is one of those pillar albums for me, just off the time in life I was in. Not one of my favorites ever, but unforgettable.
