People forget the only reasons Steph even went to Tech was because Cremins and Edner Elisma were NYC guys...I was in Atlanta at the time it was a BIG deal of him having to have his people and element around him or he wasn't happy...

Wow....sort of ties in to him leaving Minny.

Some cats at 19 just aren't mature, especially NY cats that never left the city. It's different outside.

Why can't people just accept that instead of this grandeous next shyt?

Did you REALLY just make that analogy? Holy shyt.
You saw the words "child molester" and got your panties in a knot. Typical clones losing site of the actual arguement. I am not comparing Marbury to a child molester. I am simply comparing how we judge people by their past actions.

Nice try tho.

KANG aint win a title till he went to miami you fatherless little nikka baby

You didnt say LeBron aint win til he went to Miami though, loser:pacspit:

You said that aint no champions ever came from Ohio.....and the best player in the NBA is from Ohio and won the last 2 Championships in a row:smugfloyd:

Also, what a shame that we have such a stereotype of our OWN culture:snoop:

I was raised in a house, in the burbs, with BOTH my parents AND they've been married for over 30+ years:umad:

Ask me about being in Oklahoma at 18. Eventually...football didn't even matter because of the culture shock and not really wanting to be there after leaving the city.

Guess what people....IT HAPPENS!!

I left a good school/program in pittsburgh at 19 and goofed off because i was homesick also. It appens like you said.

Why are you giving this guy a pass with the "im so far away from home" excuse?

Marbury was a great player and a lot of fun to watch. HIs problem is he was feeling himself way too much and wanted to shine on his own instead of "being in Garnett's shadow".
The problem is once he got HIS WISH he couldnt win worth a damn. Many people will come in here and claim he never had good teams around him. To them I say he had a good team with Garnett and bytched his way out.
  • Went to the Nets. FAILED
  • Went to the Suns. FAILED
  • Went to the Knicks. FAILED

I think he's one of those dudes that wouldnt admit it but 4 franchises and 7 coaches (i think) cant be wrong about you. I may be wrong but every time he left a team, they improved.
Like i always tell my own sister, there comes a time when it's not the others that are the problem. It's YOUR ass.
your wrong on so many levels
for starters, he left minny cause of the weather/culture
kg and him were very cool

nets stinked, nothing he could do about that
in phoniex, him and amare were great together and had da eventual champion spurs on their heels in the first round
amare was beasting with steph, giving tim all they could hande. they woulda been something nice but phoniex decided to rebuild
knicks (and im a fan) sucked, and basketball was always a sub plot to other shyt

at the end of the day, he ran into a lot of bad luck, some his fault some not his fault. but he never really had a good team minus those sota days

Again, he got his wish. He and KG could have been the duo we would be talking about tearing up the basketball world by the time they reached their primes. He opted to leave. FIne. I miss home too sometimes. But i have noone else to blame but myself if it doesnt workout
I didn't think I was giving him a pass more like an explanation...And I don't know about you, but I'm not the same person now that I was when I was 19...
I hear you. BUt being away from home or out of their comfort zone is no excuse at the pro level. Many mofos go to school away from home and find a way. i was 17 when i joined the military. man the fukk up and face life.

Exactly man.

I don't get why dudes act like its out of the realm of possibility and instead have to add some next shyt to it.

What's good for you doesn't speak for others.

Congrats...but some people aren't equipped. Money doesn't change being 19.

Okay FIne. But what was the bottom line? Did he succeed or did he fail?

As far as the NBA goes and the expectations

He grew up and admitted he was immature back then. Same things we've mentioned also from experience.

I think what hes done overseas in China is great. I said it before but hes a blackman with a statue in china. Forget the NBA. Thats bigger than any NBA accomplishment. :manny:

He played on some sucky teams and had bad timing. He played his entire Nets career a total of 16 games with Kenyon Martin and Keith Van Horn in the line up as starters alongside him. Jason Kidd had 50 games with them his first year.

He had a good run in PhX until the coaching turnover and the Knicks are just a dysfunctional franchise he had to rescue when he first got there to get them into the playoffs.

Just a bad string for dude. I can't say he was holding his teams back. Never felt that way.

He's the anti Robert Horry of being on teams.

Te bolded in red is music to my ears :ahh:

But i've never said he held franchises back. If anything he was THE bright spots on some of those squad. But then it call comes down to it, as talented as he was, he failed in the NBA

I wouldnt argue that at all. I never said he's a failure in life or basketball. I'm sure he's successful and can take care of his mom and family in ways that i cant. I respect that. I'm strictly talking from and NBA perspective
