I had my issues with Joe (the Em dikkriding for one), but he was a large part of the reason why the show was enjoyable for me. Ak alright, but he needs someone like Joe who'll call him out on his bullshyt.
Anyway, it was a good run. Don't think I'll watch anymore episodes without Joe though :francis:

Negotiate and say a number so ridiculous the other side let's you go brehs. Be a rapper who can't move 200k units and turn down an easy 200k in salary a year brehs

:dahell:
I don’t think he is stupid for turning away from the gig. Budden proved something, people want a show that resembles the golden era of first take. Joe’s personality and his willingness to give real opinions about hip hop is special. Complex is not going to find that easy. I expect Joe to create something else in the near future that will compete with everyday struggle.

for the show as-is, yeah.

but what if MTV picked it up, or complex was able to secure distribution through other platforms as part of their ties to viacom, and it wasn't accounted for in his contract? what if viacom is the next brand to get involved in a major merger that results in their content being prioritized across mobile platforms? i ask these questions because i assume joe is negotiating with an understanding of where the show might be headed in the future, and where his value could/should be as a result.

in the long run, this is only a fukk-up for joe if he doesnt follow through on the momentum he's built for his own brand. the money they did offer ain't shyt, so long as he doesnt get in his own way when it's time to find a new partner.

The 5 Million I can believe. This is the thing, overcharging is a normal business tactic people use when they don't want to do something, you overcharge them, and if they meet the quota, then you do it, and if they don't you walk away.

Joe probably didn't want to do the show anymore anyway, since he's in the works of branching off with his own show. So he asked them for a contract that he knew they would probably never agree to. It's a win win. They sign it, great, he gets his 5 Million and does the show. They don't? That's great too. I can leave now like I wanted to anyway, and do my own thing that I was already working on.
