When John Mayer and DeRay McKesson of all people are tweeting about this shyt, you better find a way to bring that man back

Also, some of this thread is just straight up delusional lol. Nobody, and I repeat nobody, gives a fukk about anything Joe Budden did prior to like 2015. All that Wu-Tang shyt, the women, everything you remember from the 2000's, is totally irrelevant in this discussion. Whatever preconceived notions you have of him as a bytch or a hoe or whatever is out the window, because nobody watching Everyday Struggle or giving it attention even knows or cares about that stuff. Budden right now is damn near up there with Charlamagne, if not already, as one of the most buzzworthy and subsequently valuable on-air personalities in hip-hop.

I was Christmas shopping at target and the kids working in the tech sera were talking about Joe budden.:mjlol:

I was a budden fan since sing for the moment can't believe he still relevant.

second point first. i'm giving him the benefit of the doubt until he gives me a reason to think otherwise. and right now he hasnt done anything to instill doubt, in my opinion. this wasnt him storming off set on some emo shyt and quitting. they made him an offer, he came back with another offer, they basically told him thanks but no thanks. there's tremendous value in having the confidence to say "sorry, i'm worth this, and if you dont give it to me i'll get it somewhere else." unfortunately, most of us have been conditioned to just be happy accepting someone else determining our value. but if you're willing to invest in yourself, if you're willing to do the work and you're ok with the sacrifices you have to make personally to see it through, why settle? seriously, remove the dollar signs you now know about. if you dont know the $$, is what he did really that stupid? he went really, really, really high. and it might come back to bite him. but if he has the numbers to prove his value, fukk it. why not.

and lol. all the shyt you're clowning him for are all the reasons people pay attention. you know this, right? they paid attention when it was joebudden tv. they paid attention when he took it to twitter. they paid attention at complex and he benefitted from having a larger platform. if he can secure the platform again, he'll be fine.

that said, it remains to be seen if joe can make all this shyt work out. but that's on him either way. i dont knock his decision.

and how much he deserves to be paid depends on a number of factors that have yet to be revealed:
  • is complex trying to find larger distribution for their shows beyond youtube? this is a huge one, and it's not just about television. some of these corporations are merging because they see the decline in linear, and they're trying to guarantee consumption on their mobile services/non-linear platforms by purchasing content creation wholesale. billions of dollars worth of wholesale, but still.
  • how much was joe involved in concepting the show? how much did his decision-making factor into the final product?
  • how much input does he have on guests and securing talent?
  • how much have views for the other shows complex posts to youtube around Everyday Struggle grown since the show began?
  • how much additional revenue is complex generating by monetizing their YT channels, and how much value has ES's daily numbers added to their bottom line (you ever notice that ES runs on the Complex News channel, but the Complex channel repackages the best moments and runs them on the main page, in between all the other bullshyt they run)?
there are some other factors, but potential future distribution, monetization and joe's actual role behind the scenes are the biggest.

there's also this... if complex is willing to offer $200k to stay, how much is another brand willing to put up to poach him? i would imagine at least 20-35% more, just based on salary jumps most people receive by switching jobs throughout their career.

Big wall of text that unsuccessfully tries to rationalize this fukk boy declining a reasonable contract.

In real life, wise people don't offer people a big bag of money when they haven't proven that they are worth it, or has shown that they may be worth it in the near future. I already said the only thing that he has done semi-successfully is build up his beta male and female fanbase by being a clown and simp in public view. But that alone isn't going to convince a company to give him millions of dollars.

Let's look at the facts: He is a d-list rapper that has a very underwhelming rap career. Signed with an iconic music label and had one semi-hit at the beginning of his career but has never done commercially well and doesn't garner superstar status crowds to his shows/events. He was mostly the weak spot in a makeshift "super" rap group comprised of solo artists that also have had mostly underwhelming rap careers. That group signed to the biggest selling rap artist in history and didn't do commercially well and most likely will never put out another project. Jumped to reality TV, got himself some attention but still wasn't even the first or second biggest star on the show he was on. Also has shown himself to be mentally unstable and make enemies unnecessarily with other people in his field that may have possibly been beneficial to his career.

Never was the face of anything that produced notable money for ANY company. Never sold any big records. Damn near 40 and been in the game for almost 2 decades and still considered a D-List rapper.

All that other shyt you talking about Complex is conjecture. There's nothing out there that would make anyone believe that he has been an indispensable commodity to Complex. He's basically a failed rapper and a trolling, mentally unstable podcaster. Why on God's green Earth would they risk giving this man that amount of money? Just because they have it? You sound dumb. Name the other people that has this background and status that was given a multi-million dollar contract just to be a part of a podcast. You can't. He shoulda took that 200k.

Bottom line is this...him asking for 5 million a year is equivalent to J.R Smith going up to Cleveland Cavaliers management and asking for Lebron money. Dumb as hell.

Too soon to make that type of demand.

Build your buzz off complex and their machine for at least a year then go for the kill or accept another offer.

He trying to secure the bag and the show has only been really hot for a couple months. Hip hop fans are fickle and Budden is unstable. Why would any one sign him for that type of money when he’s one dumb move from bringing the whole thing down or running fans off. If I was going to bet big long term it’s not on Budden. If he managed to go a year without fukking up you reconsider.

But there’s no way he makes it without blowing shyt up. That’s exactly what Charlemagne said too, and he was right.

If they throw a nikka like Cam on there, nobody would give a fukk about Joe Budden on this show.

:heh:

There's plenty of seasoned artists out there that would be able to provide perspective from an artist's standpoint and not be oblivious to newer acts

Exactly my point. They throw in another 35+ year old rapper in place of Budden, the show would do great numbers

I really do believe ak doesnt make money, complex is notoriously cheap. and ak is a super herb and probably happy to just have a platform, he dont got any business sense. And his own personal youtube is probably bringing in about 50k a year. yes
Ak main platform is not YouTube

It's TWITCH

Everyday Struggle put up numbers initially because of Ak. The YouTube comments are full of people from his Twitch stream

Black folks still late on this Twitch wave while cacs on there cleaning up playing random games and hustling donations

High Twitch sub count=$$$$$$$$

Everyday Struggle and YouTube are auxiliary
