Dallas, Texas but living in Houston, Texas
I live in Texas and the process was easy but it took a long time. This was due to being in 2009 when Obama was starting his term. Everyone was scared he was going to bring back gun control so the background check and having the license actually issued took longer than it should have.

You go to a class that lasts a few hours. They basically go over the laws about when you can use a gun and when not to use one, where you can carry, etc. They strongly emphasize to not be a damn hero or whatever and to only use your gun when your life is clearly in danger. After that you go to the range and shoot to get qualified. I let my license expire because a lot of the places I go don't allow conceal carry (now open carry). I still own a pistol and a few rifles but that's mainly for home protection. When I do carry my pistol it's kept in the car when I go to a store or whatever but if going to a friend's house or whatever I'm carrying. I've been meaning to get another license but just been to lazy.

When pulled over by the police by law you must present your license along with your drivers license. They told me in my class that the cops would generally not give you a ticket for speeding, running a light, or any small offense since you carry and feel like you're "one of the good guys" which I thought was BS since I'm black and I'd figure I would be a target regardless. To my suprise it actually work. I had cops just give me a warning if I was speeding or had expired tags. Don't let your guard down though because you saw what happened to our brother Philando Castille in Minnesota. :mjcry:

Do you think Philando Castile would have been better off not notifying the officer he was carrying?

I always take my wallet/DL out before they even get to my car:francis: everybody have different shyt that do, it just depends on the city and police force, we still can be killed nevertheless.

im in az too but i dont trust the cops to not freak out and shoot me if im carrying, with or without the permit
I feel you but don't let that stop you. Mayne the way I figure any situation that got cops in front of you you already fukked up. These pigs killing people without weapons too

In 08 before they changed the law got arrested for concealed under the seat of my car. I can actually count on my hands the times I've conceal carried (on my person in a public area) and I've never worn open on the hip. I'll keep one in the car tho occasionally. Worked a gas station job years ago and that shyt stayed with me under the register :youngsabo:

Where It’s Not Safe
...i approve this thread and i like the Q&As being posted.

stay black...stay strapped up...stay woke.

Exactly. Get ur straps, learn them like the back of ur hand, stay physically fit and learn tactics. Dont just go around shooting like a madman.

U just never know when this country goes all to shyt. Cant depend that it wont.

It's a real bytch here in Chicago. My record clean as hell and its still a bunch of loops and shyt I gotta go thru.

I have mine from illinois as well and yes, its a MAJOR pain in the ass to get one. especially taking the safety classes because there are ZERO gun ranges in the city limits.

the good thing about the illinois permit is that it has reciprocity in almost every state. so with me being in texas most of the time now, I can still legally carry.

I pretty much keep my glock 43 in my car (to conceal carry), and I have 2 .40 S&W's that I keep in the crib.

This is pretty much my experience.

OP some places you don't have to declare you have a weapon in the vehicle but Texas you have to. I don't think you do in Florida though. Most gun owners and law enforcement have been cool with me. Two former LEO have even given me pointers on how to improve my shooting. They have a weird subculture and they are definitely "us against them".

I recommend a Glock 43 or a M&P Shield for a concealed carry weapon. I carry maybe a third of the time myself because many of the places I go I can't carry.

Yeah I got a glock 17 and a glock 21 for pistols ima grab up something compact and 40. Caliber for a glock. That will probably be my go to for concealed carry.

Carry a sig p220. Don’t need a license to conceal where I’m at. But if you’re pulled over you do need to declare you have a gun on you or in the vehicle.
