I wouldn't do it. Has nothing to do with fanboy loyalty. If I was a Sony gamer I'd wait.

I became essentially an xbot right after the PS2 launch. I was working at a gaming store today later was bought out and turned into a gamestop.
I got fired because I was selling bootleg Dreamcast games, basically a customer bought one that had every sega genesis game on the disc. But bootleg disc would quickly damaged the gd-lens on Dreamcast and games would stop working. I'm his case that started a week later, he comes to the spot complaining basically just trying to get me fired because I wasn't there when he randomly showed up. Now the manager was the guy who got me to sell them in the first place but I took the blame because he got me the job and been there for a minute so it was cool with me
Anyways, PS2 drops and immediately people are returning systems because of DRE aka Disc read error. Add it varied what was wrong, either it wouldn't play CDs or it wouldn't play DVDs depending on what faulty system you got. Mine wouldn't play DVDs, I scooped tekken tag tournament, had a house full of people excited waiting for me to get back after work.
We like 8/9 deep, but that bytch in the disc drive. Wouldn't play the disc. Eventually everyone's clowning me for buying a broken system, I was heated. Now with demand being what it was (a ps2 sold for $50,000 on eBay at that time) even returning a system wouldn't net you a replacement. See, they was still trying to fill preorders so ppl in my position had to essentially get to the back of the waiting list line.
HOW WOULD YOU FEEL IF THAT HAPPENED TO YOU, YOU PAY FOR IT, IT DON'T WORK, NOW YOU GOTTA WAIT MONTHS TILL THEY CAN FILL DEMAND.
Since I worked at a game store the manager just gave me a pre-order from someone else while 1 customer would have to find out they gotta wait a little longer. shyt is fukked up holmes. So anyways we'd have representatives of various companies visit and ask questions about products, an EA rep,a nintendo rep, the Sony rep in particular would visit the most often. And we asked him what's Sony gonna do about this? He said and I quote...
Sony knows what's going on but they have not plans to do anything about it
If you didn't buy a warranty you'd be totally out of luck too. It didn't sit right with me than they'd just be like 
Then I played Halo at the store before launch and fell in love with Xbox. Max Payne Xbox was great too. Online broadband was the norm too and I really wanted to play online so it was a no brainier. Sony went on to get sued by a number of countries over D.R.E. but maintained it wasn't their fault.
They would take the exact same stance when psn was down for that month. ironically to make it up to you they started giving DIGITAL GAMES FOR FREE which some today claim is taboo.
Now the ps5 is about to release and there's been report after report that they are overheating. Now less systems because of a 50% SOC fail rate. Yet they still pushing ahead? If history can tell the future? Then they'll act like it isn't a big deal publicly, and it's fanbase will make up excuses until it affects then personally & individually.
This exact shyt is the sole reason why I have beef with PlayStation, why I'm an xbot. Say what you wanna say but this non biased thread will be upped in December. Somebody's post will not age well. TBC. I'll answer questions if you have any
