Shark Guts is maybe the most repetitive GxFR joint I’ve heard since Visionware and Third F. I gotta pass on that one. Couldn’t even make it through.

ehh, not big on it after a listen. Big Ghost is hit or miss, i dug alot of tracks on Carpe Noctem but this isnt standing out
He’s hit or miss for me too. I swear this is gonna sound like a backhanded compliment. I always think of big ghost and statik sort of similarly. I feel like that’s what my beats would sound like if I put in the work back in the 00’s when I mostly was surrounded by cats that sampled soul and r&b records. None of their shot is wack to me, but none of it is mind blowing either. Big ghost has a decent ear and he never does anything off-putting with the sample selection or drums, but I’ve always found his beats to rely heavily on who is rapping over them.

This is decent. I wanna listen again in the car. After hearing the interesting sounds on Lulu and hearing the Just Blaze joints Conway has been playing on IG, this just kinda sounds like a half step backwards production wise.

Also some of these verses I thought sounded better on fire in the booth and other freestyles.

:yeshrug:
Oh I also wish the cover wasn’t throwing me. It looks kinda cheap and I think it’s affecting how I’m hearing it too.

Paste the link in search without the bracket at the end I tried it it works. If u add it with the bracket at the end it won’t work. I didn’t put that there it’s apart of the rep. If not I’ll send u another link
Copy...will try it when I go back to the crib

youtube link

also does Family Secret have the same guitar riff as Aunt Rosie

It sounds like it’s from the same sample source to me but I could be wrong.

I really like the intro. Great movie scene.

On a second listen I’m trying to like this more.

Shark guts is one of those songs that’s not supposed to work but it’s inevitably gonna be stuck in my head

honestly it’s been in my head since he previewed it on ig

I can see that. The whole “___ is a classic” part was a little catchy. You aren’t wrong.

I’m sounding real nitpickey. This release is fine. Nothing wrong with it at all. It just felt like there was this big build up to god don’t make mistakes where every release was sounding bigger. Lulu was almost universally praised on here, and everyone was loving the King to a God snippets.

This just feels less interesting production wise to me. I like Griselda Ghost, Cocaine Beach, and Bullet for every Heathen more than this.

But I’ll say some positives. I love the intro and the Rich interlude. Dead Flowers is like a throwback to old Griselda intro joints from 2016/2017. I like the El Camino hook and that entire song. I like the verses on Icon. The beat switch to the gospel record on Bricks to Murals is dope and fits the theme of the title. SDLN is dope.

It’s solid. Right now I’ve got it a little higher than EIF 3

Oh yeah you’re definitely right about the production. Especially that song with Flee, it was fine but I liked it better when he spit it over that remixed Dr Birds beat on the fire in the booth.

he just put out Lulu last month and got other shyt lined up so I’ll take shark guts, the flee and Camino joints and icon and be happy
