More black cops will certainly help the problem. I have personally seen black cops treat black people better and experienced it too. You're an idiot if you think black cops treat black people the same or worse than non-black cops. There's no way we're talking about racialized black killings if an entire police force is black. The same cannot be said of white cops.

This defies logic because in NYC by default, policing is done BASED ON STATISTICS AND QUOTAS.

A simple Google search will literally yield results that include articles where officers anonymously state that this is the case, and they do so in order to shield themselves from criticism from their fellow officers.

There is a point to what he is saying. On the local level if we get out the vote, we could dictate the pace. As it is currently, whites are doing

Gays have a lot of Super PACS that continuously raise millions of dollars a year. Even the Right wing pro gay Super PACS raise millions.

We as black people need to do the same. We need GOOD black think tanks and black Super Pacs. If hispanics can raise tens of millions and buy political influence, we can do the same if not more.

Another problem is that (as I say all the time and @Poitier gets mad at) all of our money is tied up in entertainers: actors, musicians, athletes, and talking heads (hosts/speakers/pundits/etc) and not enough actual business people or self-made folks who are willing to even sustain this sort of stuff.

Why is this a problem?

All of these entertainers are employees.

They collect pay-cheques. They don't make their own money. Their money is their image.

Every other demographic doesn't need political correctness or likability to maintain their income.

So when they speak out, they're not in fear of blacklists or losing sponsorships etc.

Oprah can't say too much cause she'll lose her channel. Rick Ross can't come out with a "fukk whitey" album cause it'll never get released. The best they can do is use double speak, coded language, and metaphors to get their message across...and even then, they're still entertainers so it has to be somewhat APPEALING to even be drawn to them.

We've had Presidents from Eishenhower who took on the KKK and intergrated the US Military and pushed through the Civil Rights Act in 1957, to JFK who sent over a 100 Federal troops to protect a handful of black students attending a university. And you mean to tell me the only way Obama can get a stern point across about the unjust manner blacks are being killed by cops is through riddles and rhymes? We gotta be dumb because we don't understand the reason behind him "finessing" his way around real social issues? Was he finessing or very explicit in speaking up for gays? The thing about that man, the Presidents had very specific targets.
-The KKK was an entity the president could directly go at, as they are terrorists.
-Military integration is within the presidents power, he is the Commander in Chief.
-The Civil Rights Act was pushed through, for sure, but it wasn't done by the president alone. It still required congress. The best the President could do was go
to bat and harp over and over about it till people saw the light.
-JFK sending those troops was easy because it was a national first, something he could control.

The President cannot fight a battle with every police precinct in every city in every county of every state in the nation. He can speak in broad generalizations, but it will only be lipservice.
He can speak up for blacks and how our treatment has been for too long, but he cannot do anything about it. It is something people at the local level have to tackle.
