@Manny ManhaTTan sign up on Steam to get started. definitely try to wait for a sale on older games. you can save a lot of money. if you put games on your 'wishlist', it will email you when they go on sale

new games can often be found on sale at greenmangaming.com

a good way to see what's poppin on Steam is to check their best sellers

Steam Search

you can see what games are popular, and what good games are on sale. right now there's good sales on Dying Light, the Wolfenstein games, Ori, XCOM 2, and Arma 3

Cheapshark is indeed the shyt. Humble Bundle has a monthly bundle that you can sign up for for like 15 a month. Usually some heat. If you got 15 a month to spare, it's worth it for the little surprises. One of the games on this months list, Stellaris, is high grade crack if you like strategy games at all

Best believe you're not playing 4K on a laptop unless you don't mind low-med graphics.

I know you said "you're not a graphics whore," but you bought a 4K laptop screen, so you kinda are :manny:

What is your GPU? Also, if you have above a gtx 1060 buy the rift or vive (depends on how much room you have. The rift uses less room, so I prefer it. But, I live in the DC are and apartments are expensive as hell and small.

Well, he better get used to 1080p graphics at ultra. He can't try to go higher in resolution, or it'll be a slideshow. He can play VR with 970 mobile GPU I think (I'm not sure though). VR gives him those exclusive games he's craving.

Side note: I've noticed some console gamers buy "gaming" laptops and expect desktop-level performance. Nah, it doesn't work that way. I have a top of the line laptop (Surfacebook Pro), but I don't expect to play games on it. Laptops are for convenience and work. Desktops are for gaming and high end rendering. I dunno why so many console gamers buy laptops, when they can get so much more with a desktop

The ones with desktop class 1070/1080s are pretty good performers. But the amount spent could have bought a beast desktop.

The desktop class ones require a separate plug in right? I know alienware was doing that with the desktop-level GPUs. It's not worth the money if you ask me (unless you have money to blow).
