The news report clearly says the Sergeant escalated the situation and had his pepper spray out and pointing at a cuffed suspect when the female officer pulled him off of the suspect.
Taking these factors into consideration it's likely the female officer "protected" the cuffed suspect in some manner from being brutalized by the Sergeant

I made it very clear in other posts that if he was going to mame or kill the guy, sure, her response was warranted, but the likelihood that was about to happen was slim.
She should have told him off after and reported him. It would keep her ass safe and the officer held accountable.

I'm not justifying the officers action. Let's be clear on that first. The meat head was acting like an idiot, and deserves disciplinary action against him.
What I am saying is that the man wasn't about to die or be maimed. Pepper spray is an irritant, not a lethal use of force. He also didn't deploy it.
Her pulling on her superiors belt wasn't the best move in the above circumstances. And that response was expected.
This is one of those instances where unless you have ever been in the armed forces or a paramilitary environment you won't understand.

We have seen how enough of these cases to understand how things can escalate. You shouldn't be looking to stop your colleague when they're about to use lethal force, that is losing control of situation.
